The home appears rather run down. The lounge had no curtains and most of the carpets were in need of cleaning. The young people’s bedrooms are large and contain lots of personal items. However, the duvet covers and soft furnishings are in need of replacement. A large garden surrounds the home. At the rear there are a number of vegetable plots and play equipment. The young people are able to have bikes and like riding around the garden. There is a large building adjacent to the home, called the den. Inspection report children’s home: SC430002 3 It is a large, comfortable room with a piano, a chill-out area, arts and craft materials, a number of board games and a pool table. This room is well used and is a nice space for parents to spend time with the young people. There is also a well-equipped sensory room. The organisation does have a plan in place to address the shortfalls in the appearance of the home.

Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good

The home is calm, but is also a positive hive of activity. It is regularly maintained, and areas have been improved with the inclusion of new sofas in the living areas and a trampoline for the garden. The children and young people’s bedrooms are personalised to meet their needs and wishes. One young person is leading on improving the sensory room, and is excited about her involvement in this planned development.
