school. Most of you said in your questionnaires that you learn a lot in lessons and that the adults explain how to improve your work. Because most of you know your writing and mathematics targets you have a really clear idea of what to do to improve your work. Inspectors have asked your teachers to make sure you all know your targets very well so that you all can improve even more quickly in these subjects. You can help your headteacher and the staff to make this good school even better by continuing to behave well and trying as hard as you can. I wish you all the very best for the future.

Your school provides you with a good education. You work hard, make good progress in your lessons and reach standards that are typical for your age when you leave at the end of Year 2. Adults in school look after you very well and want you all ‘to shine’. You told us that you feel safe and confident about asking them for help or talking to them about any worries. Your headteacher leads your school well and makes sure you are happy and that you learn well. Your headteacher and all the staff in school are always looking for ways to make your school even better. We have asked them to:
- East Dene Primary4 May 2017Good
East Dene, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, S65 2DF · Part of Central Learning Partnership Trust
Information about this school

Around half the pupils are from minority ethnic groups and four out of ten pupils speak English as an additional language. Both of these figures are well above the national average. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities is a little above the national average. The school works closely with two other Rotherham schools, also CLPT schools. The school met the current floor standards in 2016. This is the minimum expectation of pupils’ progress set by the government. The school does not meet requirements on the publication of information about admission arrangements, accessibility and governors’ business and financial interests

those reached in other schools across the country. Your headteacher and other staff are working hard and successfully to improve the school for you. They want to make it even better, and there are some things we have asked them to do to make this happen. We have asked them to take action to help you reach even higher standards, especially in writing. We have also asked them to try to make sure that all lessons are as good as the best ones, and to make sure they use information about how well you are doing to help you do even better. We would like them to make sure you know your targets and use them more in lessons. We have also asked the staff responsible for different subjects and all your school governors to check how well how well the school is doing, so everyone knows the very best steps to take to improve the school further. To help your teachers make the school as good as it can be we have asked them to give you more time to work on your own or in small groups so you can investigate things for yourself and to make sure the work is at the right level of challenge to move your learning on quickly, especially those of you who find learning easier. We have also asked them to give the children in the Reception classes more opportunities to choose their own activities.

- St Joseph's Catholic Primary School22 May 2012Satisfactory
Rawmarsh, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, S62 6JY
Inspection of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Rotherham, S62 6JY
St Joseph’s is a satisfactory school, but it is improving all the time. You generally make satisfactory progress in your work, but progress is much better in the upper Key Stage 2 classes and pupils in Year 6 reach the standards we would expect them to reach. The teaching you receive is satisfactory overall, but there are examples in the Reception class of good teaching and there is also some good and outstanding teaching in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You behave well in lessons and around school and are very polite to visitors. You teachers and all the other grown- ups look after you well and you feel safe in school as a result. Some of you thought it would be a good idea if the school divided the playground so that larger pupils did not bump into smaller ones!

Text from letter to pupils explaining the findings of the inspection
Inspection of Broom Valley Junior School, Rotherham, S60 2QU We really enjoyed our visit to your school. Thank you for giving us such a warm welcome and for answering our questions so politely. The inspector who spoke to the school council thought they were great! We found that your school provides you with a good standard of education. It is a happy and friendly place where pupils from many cultures respect each other and work well together in lessons. You also enjoy helping around the school and feel very proud that your views and ideas have helped towards your new playground development. We think it is super! Here are the things that are best about your school

Inspection of Blackburn Primary School, Rotherham S61 2BU
Thank you for welcoming the inspectors to your school. We enjoyed meeting you and talking with you. We found that Blackburn Primary is a good school. Your headteacher and all the staff take good care of you and they are keen to help you to do your best, which matches your motto of, 'Only our best is good enough.' The inspectors found that most of you make good progress in your work and that you behave well and you get on well together. Teachers try to make lessons as lively and interesting as they can and the school keeps a close eye on how well you are getting on with your learning. Your teachers mostly give you work that is not too easy or too hard but just right. As this is not always the case, we have asked that the work you are given is always just right for you. We have also asked your headteacher if he, and the teachers, will check very carefully in your books to see that this is happening right through the

Text from letter to pupils explaining the findings of the inspection
Inspection of Badsley Moor Infant School, Rotherham, S65 2QS Mrs Mothersdale and I thoroughly enjoyed our inspection of your school and appreciated your really happy and friendly welcome. We were extremely impressed by the lively family atmosphere and your keenness to learn. We enjoyed talking to the members of the school council, your staff and seeing how much you enjoy your lessons, playtime and lunchtime with your friends. You go to a good school with a number of real strengths. These are some of the things the school does really well. n You all achieve well and reach standards which are broadly in line with those reached by many other children. n Teaching is good and occasionally outstanding. Teachers make learning fun and staff help and support you when you need it. n Your behaviour is good. You get on well with each other and we were very impressed with the sensible attitudes of many pupils. n The curriculum is outstanding, with lots of 'fun' activities.

Inspection of Newman School, Rotherham, S60 3LX
Thank you for making us so welcome when we inspected your school in December. Even though it was close to Christmas, everyone was still busy learning and we really enjoyed our time with you. We both had many discussions with pupils in the school and students in the sixth form. It was very clear that from what you said and the responses from your parents and carers in their questionnaires that you are happy at school, feel safe and are learning exceptionally well. We know, because you told us, that you appreciate the staff because they provide you with outstanding care, guidance and support throughout your time in school. They enjoy being with you as much as you appreciate them, which shows in your warm and welcoming school. Virtually everything in Newman is outstanding and this is from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to the sixth form. We both thought that the work you did by the time you got to the sixth form was exceptional. These included; your learning in lessons, how well
