Your school provides you with a good education. As the result of good teaching and an imaginative curriculum, your achievement is good with you now gaining GCSEs. In addition, you make very good progress in communication. You are well behaved, work hard and have a positive attitude to everything the school offers. This was especially evident in your interesting assembly with the minister for the deaf. You enjoy lessons, clubs and visits out of school.

school again to check that progress is being made. These are the things we have asked your headteacher, the governors and the staff to do: make sure that teaching is at least good in all your lessons so that you make better progress improve your rates of progress in English and mathematics so that more of you reach expected levels of attainment by the end of Year 6 make sure that all pupils attend school regularly. I am sure that you can all think of ways in which you can help the staff to make these changes. Our very best wishes for the future.

As you may recall, a little while ago my colleague and I spent a short time looking at your school. We really enjoyed our time with you. Thank you for talking to us and making us feel so welcome. We especially enjoyed seeing all the work you have produced and think your Jubilee tiles are very attractive. It was clear from our chats and the questionnaire replies we received from you, and your parents and carers, that you enjoy school, and think that you are safe and well cared for.

You make really good progress in most subjects, now I want you to make the same rate of progress in English. There is a lot of work in running a school and the jobs need to be distributed more evenly.

Inspection of Hayfield Lane Primary School, Doncaster, DN9 3NB
Your school is a satisfactory school. You make satisfactory progress and your attainment is average by the end of Year 6. Pupils are making faster progress through Year 1 and Year 2 and reach above average attainment in reading, writing and mathematics. This has much to do with the reading, writing and number programmes that the school has put in place. Some teaching is good and, in those lessons, you make good progress. You enjoy the learning challenges, which are broadening your learning and giving you chances to practise a lot of skills. You behave well and your attendance is above average and continues to rise. Well done!

Your school provides you with a satisfactory education. The inspectors found that the school has improved since the previous inspection and that it no longer requires a ‘notice to improve’. Most of you work hard and concentrate well in lessons although occasionally some of you disrupt other children’s learning. The teaching you receive is satisfactory overall and this helps you to make satisfactory progress. Nevertheless, the standards you reach in English and mathematics are still not high enough across the school. You told us that you felt safe in school and that behaviour is now better than it was previously.

Yours is a very caring school. The headteacher and others lead it very well. Parents and carers are very supportive of the school. The headteacher involves you in decisions and you also contribute well to the school, for example, through being reading partners, and to the local community. You accept other people and show a lot of respect for them. The staff value all of you highly and help you all to do well. Overall, we think that your school is a good one with some outstanding features.
