School leaders, staff and governors work hard for you. There are some things that we have asked them to do to improve things in your school. Your attainment in English should improve further and we have asked your teachers to give you greater opportunities to use your writing skills in different subjects. Those of you who find learning easier than most should receive more challenging work in lessons and the introductions in your lessons should be shorter, so that you can start your independent activities quickly and make even better progress. You can help your teachers by continuing to work hard in your lessons and always trying your very best! I give you and all your teachers my best wishes.

Inspection of Westwood High School, Oldham, OL9 6HR
The school does everything it has to do to continue to operate as a school. All the adults want the school to be even better so I have asked them to think about a few things that might help. First, to make sure you get plenty of opportunities to solve problems without relying on the teacher to tell you everything. Second, to make sure teachers give you work that is at exactly the right level for each one of you so that you can make faster progress. Third, to check that progress is good in each year group and in each subject. You can help by making sure that you always work as hard as you can in every lesson and continue to behave well.

after-school clubs. The school's strong approach to working closely with your parents and others who help you, such as the music teacher who comes in to teach every week. To help your school improve further, your teachers will help you to improve your writing. I know that you will want to assist in this by always doing your best work, acting on the guidance given and reaching the challenging targets set for you. We have also asked that more of the teaching and assessment of your work is raised to a good standard. The staff and governors will work even harder to check what is going on in the school. The inspection team wishes you well and good luck for the future.

Inspection of Blackshaw Lane Primary & Nursery School, Oldham, OL2 6NT
Yours is a satisfactory school because you make satisfactory progress by the time you leave. Younger children in the Early Years Foundation Stage make good progress. It was good to see some of you giving up your time to become ‘playground pals’ to help some of the younger children feel safer and enjoy lunchtimes more. It was pleasing to see that some of you try to look after your school environment by doing ‘litter picking’ and recycling paper. We found that your attendance is continually improving showing that you enjoy coming to school. We could see that when you were really enjoying your lessons you worked well together.
- Hodge Clough Primary School11 May 2012Good
Moorside, Oldham, Greater Manchester, OL1 4JX
Inspection of Hodge Clough Primary School, Oldham, OL1 4JX
Hodge Clough is good school and you told us that you are very proud to be pupils of it. You feel safe because the grown-ups look after you and because older pupils care for you too. Bullying is rare and if it does happen, the school deals with it quickly. You behave well in lessons and around the school and you enjoy the ‘celebration’ assemblies every Friday when you receive awards and certificates for the success you have in school. Sport is particularly popular and both boys and girls represent your school in so many teams.

Thank you once again for the interesting conversations we had and for letting us share your work and play. Please accept my best wishes for the future. I hope you continue to enjoy your exciting, happy school.
