What this report says

In plain English

positive

The children's home is rated good, with warm relationships, safe care and strong preparation for independence.

Children like living in the home and have positive relationships with staff. They are safe, do well at school and are well prepared for moving on. Inspectors found that supervision records lack sufficient detail, and the outside space needs attention to match the rest of the home.

Going well

  • Children have positive, nurturing relationships with staff.
  • Children are kept safe, including online, with appropriate monitoring and restrictions.
  • Children do well in school and take part in a range of activities.
  • Children are well prepared for independence and receive ongoing support when they move on.

To improve

  • Staff supervision records should be detailed enough to guide both manager and staff member.
  • Outdoor areas should be well maintained and usable by children.

What parents should know

  • Your child is likely to build warm, trusting relationships with staff and take part in trips and activities.
  • Children are supported to do well at school, with staff working closely with teachers.
  • Ask how the home is handling the manager's departure and the handover of responsibilities to children and staff.
  • Ask when the outside space will be improved, as inspectors found it looked unloved and neglected.

What other providers can learn

  • Keeping children's daily experiences and plans recorded in detail supports consistent care.
  • Mentoring and induction for new staff, alongside regular supervision, helps staff feel prepared and valued.
  • Check that supervision records capture the depth of reflection and discussion that takes place.
