Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): EY559858 Registered with Ofsted: 16/08/2018 Registers: EYR, CCR, VCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder's knowledge and understanding of the requirements of registration are weak. She has not ensured that there is an open and positive culture around safeguarding. The childminder's understanding of her safeguarding responsibilities is not secure enough. She is not confident about the procedures to follow if a safeguarding concern was identified. The childminder has completed safeguarding training. However, this training has not ensured she is competent or confident to safeguard children in line with local safeguarding partners procedures.

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder does not have a secure understanding of how to identify and respond to risks within the environment. For instance, she has not addressed partially blocked fire exits. The childminder's safety checks have failed to identify and mitigate risks within the environment including; large air-conditioning units with vents, countertop fans and laptop wires, which are all accessible and within children's reach. This compromises children's safety. The childminder's risk assessment procedures require urgent improvement to keep children safe. The childminder demonstrates a weak knowledge of how to promote children's health. Hygiene standards where food is prepared are not adequate. For instance, chopping boards are dirty and kitchen units are unclean. The childminder does not know how to prepare and handle food safely. She has completed training relating to food hygiene, but the childminder does not put this into practice.
