Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): EY370608 Registered with Ofsted: 03/06/2008 Registers: EYR, CCR, VCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder has insufficient knowledge of what she must notify Ofsted about. Also, she does not keep emergency contact details for all children, which is a breach of requirements. The childminder has not prioritised her own professional development well enough. This does not help to develop her knowledge and skills. For instance, the childminder is not sure how she can plan for children's next steps or extend their learning. In addition, the childminder does not accurately reflect on the overall quality of the setting. Consequently, she does not have a clear understanding of where improvements can be made. The childminder acknowledges that she does not know all of the requirements in the early years foundation stage statutory framework for childminders. She recognises she needs to develop her knowledge of this to ensure she remains compliant over time.

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder now has business insurance in place for vehicles which she uses to transport children. She understands the importance of working in partnership with parents and carers to gather and share information about children. The childminder has effective procedures in place to ensure that key information about children and their development is shared with other settings that children are due to attend. In addition, the childminder understands the purpose of the progress check when children are aged between 2 and 3 years. She has knowledge of the steps to take if concerns arise about a child's development. This includes working with parents and making referrals to other professionals.

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.3

About this inspection

There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors evaluate and grade only leadership and governance, as there is no reliable evidence from other evaluation areas through which to assess the impact on children. Operating hours: Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday : 06:30 - 18:00
