Inspection of Diligent Offspring Church Of St. Augustine Church Hall, 152, Wembley Hill Road, Wembley HA9 8EW

p.1

Overall effectiveness Inadequate

The quality of education Inadequate Behaviour and attitudes Inadequate Personal development Inadequate Leadership and management Inadequate Overall effectiveness at previous inspection Inadequate

p.1

The provision is inadequate

There are significant weaknesses in leadership and safeguarding and welfare arrangements at the nursery, which compromise children's safety and well-being. Leaders do not consistently follow safeguarding procedures, and staff are not deployed effectively to support children appropriately. The key-person system is ineffective. Staff do not know enough about the children in their care to provide meaningful support or form positive and trusted relationships. This impacts negatively on children's emotional security and sense of safety.

p.2

The provision is inadequate

Leadership lacks sufficient oversight, which has negatively affected the quality of provision. Staff do not receive the training or support needed to develop their skills and understand their responsibilities.

p.2

The provision is inadequate

The quality of education is poor. Staff do not deliver a well-planned curriculum or consider what children need to learn and why. Activities are not tailored to children's interests or learning needs, and children's engagement is low. For example, during group activities, staff do not monitor children's participation to ensure they remain focused and included. As a result, all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), do not make the progress they are capable of. This also affects behaviour and attitudes, as children become disengaged and unmotivated.

p.2

need to do better?

n Leaders and staff demonstrate an understanding of how to identify, manage, and report child protection concerns. They are also aware of the correct procedures to follow if concerns arise regarding the conduct of staff towards children. However, the nursery's mobile phone policy is not consistently implemented. Leaders and staff are not fully aware of how some electronic devices with imaging and sharing capabilities are used within the setting, including CCTV cameras. As a result, children's safety and privacy cannot be assured. n Leaders have failed to address the actions raised at the previous inspection. They are not fully aware of recent updates to the early years foundation stage framework. Consequently, they do not fulfil their role to drive the necessary improvement and meet the requirements of registration. n Induction processes for new staff are weak. New staff members do not receive comprehensive training to help them understand their responsibilities. As a

result, children's welfare is not consistently safeguarded. n Self-evaluation and staff supervision lack rigour and effectiveness. Leaders do not accurately identify areas for improvement or respond to weaknesses in practice. Staff are not given appropriate coaching, mentoring, or development

need to do better?

17 September 2025 opportunities. This results in continued poor practice and breaches of statutory requirements. n Although a basic key-person system is in place, staff do not fully understand how to support children's learning and development. Their knowledge of individual children's needs is limited. This negatively affects children's experiences and developmental progress. n Staff deployment is ineffective. For example, leaders do not ensure that children are always supervised by staff who hold relevant qualifications or who understand how to keep children safe. This compromises children's safety and well-being. n Staff struggle to manage children's behaviour appropriately. They do not effectively explain the consequences of actions such as pushing, pulling, or screaming. Staff often set unrealistic expectations. For example, asking children to sit and listen to a story even when they are clearly disengaged. This results in

children becoming restless, bored, and displaying challenging behaviour. n Support for children with SEND is inadequate. Staff do not know these children well or understand how to meet their needs. This limits the progress they make. n The curriculum lacks structure and intent. Although staff carry out some observations, they do not use this information to plan meaningful activities. As a result, learning is largely incidental, and children do not receive the consistent educational support they need to make good progress. n Staff follow the nursery's hygiene policies and procedures, such as reminding children to wash their hands before eating. They ensure children's packed lunches contain healthy food. Children have daily opportunities to play in the garden. They jump, run, and ride bikes.
