p.1
The provision is good
Children flourish in the childminder's care. They are welcomed into her homely setting where they receive lots of love and attention. The childminder provides a fun and stimulating environment. She speaks fluent Spanish and Italian. She educates the children using these languages, as well as speaking in English. Children show they are comfortable understanding and communicating in all languages. Furthermore, the childminder uses some Makaton signing to support young babies' and children's early communication skills. Children demonstrate they feel safe and secure, seeking out cuddles and reassurance when they need it.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder places a focus on outdoor learning and plans daily outdoor activities, such as trips to the local children's centre, parks and soft play area. This helps children to learn about the world around them and enables them to mix and socialise with other groups of children. She prioritises children's safety when out walking. For example, children wear high visibility jackets so they are easily seen when mixing with others.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has a sensitive approach to supporting children's behaviour. For example, she provides quiet spaces in her environment where children can relax. She speaks gently to them to help them calm down, encouraging them to feel their heart beat and take deep breaths. This helps them to develop an awareness of their emotions and how their actions can affect others. Overall, children's behaviour is good.

need to do better?
n The childminder adapts her curriculum depending on the ages of children attending. She is aware that younger children's attention span is shorter and organises her home with a selection of resources that enable them to choose toys. However, on occasion, there are too many resources available. This hinders children's learning as they struggle to focus on an activity, impacting their developing concentration skills. n The childminder is passionate about supporting children's communication and language skills and incorporates lots of singing as children explore the toys and during routine tasks. For example, she has songs for tidy-up time and nappy changing. Children join in and use props, such as when they sing a 'shaky hat' song and have great fun wearing the floppy hat. n The childminder makes very good use of books to encourage children's interest in reading. She uses props when looking at books and young babies begin to

16 December 2024 She has a pet dog in the home and teaches children about how to approach him and be kind. The childminder has safety procedures in place for the dog. For example, he is never left alone with children and she uses a safety gate across her living room to stop access while children are playing. n Children demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and focus for short periods on activities that interest them. Children have great fun pushing trains around the train track and begin to copy and have a go at putting the train tracks together themselves. They have developed friendships and play together, sharing the trains. n The childminder has strong relationships with parents. They are extremely happy with the care that is provided. Parents comment that they have the upmost confidence in leaving their children in her care. The childminder places great importance on including parents in their children's learning. She keeps parents

up to date with their children's progress and offers advice on how they can support their children's learning at home. Additionally, she organises outings with the parents throughout the year so they can all enjoy a fun day out. n The childminder is dedicated and strives for continuous improvement. She supports any assistants she works with well. She encourages them to complete training to develop their teaching skills. The childminder completes relevant training courses to ensure she is up to date with any changes to legislation or practice. The childminder also participates in local authority conferences and has regular contact with the development workers. For example, she recently completed their quality assurance process.
