p.1
The provision is good
Children settle in quickly, and they keenly engage in the wide range of opportunities that the childminder provides. The childminder has created a curriculum that she adapts to meet the individual needs of the children. This enables all children to make good progress. The childminder shares information with parents and other settings that children attend to support a consistent approach in children's learning.
p.2
The provision is good
Children learn about the natural world as they visit the childminder's allotment to help plant and grow food. They count the eggs they collect from the ducks and chickens in the childminder's garden. They develop a keen interest in books and stories in the setting and at the local library that they visit weekly. Children know that books can be used for different purposes. For example, they point out different fruits and vegetables in information books and talk about their own emotions while reading 'The Colour Monster'.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder knows the children in her care and their families very well and is alert to any changes in their lives. She is attentive, and the children form trusting bonds with her. She teaches children to be considerate of each other by sharing and taking turns. Older children are keen to help the babies. The childminder reminds them that it is kind to help others but also to allow the babies to do things that they can manage for themselves.

n The childminder reads to the children regularly. Children especially enjoy interactive books, such as 'Press Here', and the childminder encourages them to tap, clap and count. The children laugh as they clap slowly and quickly. n Children happily participate in daily singing time. They have a large repertoire of songs that they recognise from the props that the childminder provides. The children are very responsive to the childminder's instructions. For example, they play musical instruments softly and loudly and stop as she directs. n The childminder introduces new vocabulary in conversations with the children. For instance, she explains how feeding the ducks and chickens egg shells provides them with nutrients that make them strong. The childminder frequently asks the children questions, however, she often answers these herself instead of waiting for children to respond. n The childminder encourages the children to develop their self-care skills,

While the pace keeps children constantly occupied, it does not give them sufficient time to direct their own play. Children become reliant on the childminder to lead the learning, especially indoors. n The childminder is actively involved in a range of community children's activities, and she networks frequently with other childminders. This gives children the opportunity to socialise with others and supports the childminder to reflect on her practice and share ideas with other providers. She is fully committed to her
