This provision is good
n The childminder uses her accurate knowledge of children's interests and next steps to plan exciting activities. She provides a wide range of experiences, including good opportunities to explore the local environment. Children make good progress from their individual starting points. n There are strong partnerships with parents. The childminder actively involves parents in their children's learning from the onset. She has good knowledge of children's care needs and meets these efficiently. n The childminder supports children effectively to gain good communication and language skills. For example, she provides an ongoing dialogue to young children's actions, helping them to build their vocabulary. n The childminder evaluates her provision and children's progress well, identifying further ways to improve. For example, she has recently used her risk assessments effectively to develop a safer garden for outdoor play.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder makes good use of her risk assessments to provide children with a safe and secure environment. She has sound knowledge of who may collect the children and procedures to follow should a child remain uncollected. The childminder has good understanding of her responsibilities to report any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder uses her training successfully to support children's learning, for example, to introduce letters, sounds and rhymes. She regularly networks with other early years professionals to share skills and advice. The childminder has good systems in place to share information with other early years providers to maintain continuity in children's care, learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gains good information from parents as children start to help her plan initial activities and help children settle. She monitors children's progress effectively. Her positive interactions aid children's learning. For example, she engages children well in favourite books. Older children are keen to identify their favourite underpants and find humour in the story. Children have good opportunities to explore early writing. For example, they handle shapes well as they move them across the magnetic drawing board to create imaginatively. The childminder questions effectively, encouraging children to talk about the shapes and patterns they have made.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop strong bonds with an attentive childminder. They feel safe and explore the wide range of resources with assurance and confidently ask questions to support their understanding. The childminder consistently reminds children about safety, such as not to touch the fairy lights on the Christmas tree, helping them to assess risk and understand how to keep themselves safe. Older children recognise when others are upset and respond well such as, offering to share their tools to manipulate the dough.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills they require to help them in their next steps in learning and eventual move on to school. Children use their developing mathematical skills well. For example, they count how many aliens are in the underpants as they listen well to stories. Young children develop good physical skills. They move and manipulate the dough well, enjoying the sensory experience. Older children solve problems well, for instance, as they complete jigsaw puzzles. They listen carefully to instruction and rotate pieces successfully.
