The provision is good

The childminder has created a safe, warm and welcoming environment that supports children's curiosity to explore. She is calm and nurturing, and children develop secure and trusting relationships with her. Children move around the setting happily and confidently. They begin to develop their own preferences and interests. The childminder builds on children's development with a challenging and ambitious curriculum. Children steadily build on what they already know and can do and make good progress from their starting points in development.

The provision is good

The childminder has high expectations for all children. Babies and young children begin to develop skills of independence and resilience. For example, they attempt to put on their slip-on indoor shoes or feed themselves at snack time. The childminder demonstrates to children how things work, such as putting rings onto a pole. She then gives children time to coordinate their developing fine motor skills, providing lots of encouragement. When children achieve their goal after concentrating hard, the childminder rewards them with lots of praise. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder is a positive role model for children. Even for the youngest children, the childminder introduces the concept of 'my turn, your turn' using sign language alongside simple instructions.
