The provision is outstanding
The childminder creates a warm, loving environment for children. She captures children's interests and expands their skills and knowledge. The childminder plans and implements an ambitious curriculum that is both broad and specific to the needs of every child. She designs activities that support children's long-term development. The childminder includes children in the preparation of planned learning activities. Children cannot wait to 'rescue their name', from the letters they have previously frozen in hollowed-out eggs. As children reveal each letter, they are highly motivated to learn the individual sounds in their name. They quickly acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge they need to successfully learn in future learning.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children initiate elaborate imaginative play with one another, mixing dried flowers and pinecones to make potions and cakes. They are socially confident as they successfully negotiate who is doing what job as they prepare their 'tea shop'; children ring the bell to announce its opening, use their knowledge that written words have meaning and use a typewriter to produce a 'menu'. The childminder skilfully expands children's vocabulary and asks them clarifying questions that help them invent new ideas and sustain their play.
