p.1

This provision does not meet requirements

n Since the last inspection, the childminder has failed to meet and maintain the requirements of the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage' in relation to learning and development. The childminder has taken some action to improve her understanding of matters relating to child protection. However, she has not accessed relevant professional development opportunities to enable her to demonstrate how she would meet the learning and development needs of children she may care for in the early years age range. n The childminder continues to have a poor understanding of how children learn and develop. Despite actions served at the last inspection, she still does not demonstrate that she knows how to provide children with learning opportunities to meet their individual needs, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The childminder does not demonstrate sufficient knowledge

of how to gather important information about children's development and interests from parents when children first start. While the childminder is aware of the requirement to complete progress checks for children aged between two and three years of age, she does not understand how to complete this, or to share it with parents. She demonstrates poor knowledge of assessment, and how to use this to address any gaps in children's development where they may need further support. n The childminder does demonstrate some improved understanding about how to support children to settle into her care. She is able to explain how she would encourage children's positive behaviour, and how she would deal with any unwanted behaviour in appropriate ways. She is able to demonstrate how she would support children with their independence as they get ready to move to school. She is also able to explain how she would assess her home for risk to

ensure it is safe for any children who may attend, and how she would support their good health through hygiene routines and healthy eating. n The childminder's knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children have improved since the last inspection. She now knows possible signs and symptoms that may indicate that children are at risk of harm or abuse. The childminder is able, through discussion, to show that she understands her role to protect children and is suitably knowledgeable about wider issues such as radicalisation and/or extremist behaviour. She is familiar with the local safeguarding partnership procedures to follow should she have any concerns about children in her care. She also understands her duty to inform the local authority designated officer of allegations made against any adult living or working in the setting.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

5 December 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
