This provision does not meet requirements
n The childminder continues to breach requirements of both the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage' and the requirements of the Childcare Register. She fails to provide a safe, clean and accessible environment for children. For example, kitchen surfaces where meals and snacks are prepared for children are cluttered and unclean. The bathroom facilities are also not hygienic. The required fire blanket is stored away and not easily accessible. The lack of hygiene standards and safety procedures means that children's welfare cannot be assured. n In addition, the childminder does not effectively risk assess her home environment. Therefore, children are not protected from safety hazards in the home. For example, hazardous cleaning materials are within easy reach of children. A heavy iron stored on a low ledge in the bathroom poses a risk to children's safety. Although the childminder says that children do not currently

use the garden, this was observed to contain a number of hazards. This includes safety risks identified at the previous inspection. n The childminder fails to provide documentation to show how she works in partnership with parents. She is unable to demonstrate that she keeps and maintains all required records, such as children's contracts or accident records. She is unable to provide evidence of her written complaints procedures for parents. The childminder fails to share with Ofsted or parents her childcare qualification or her registration certificate. These breaches were raised with the childminder at her last inspection. n The childminder demonstrates a sufficient understanding of the learning and development requirements and how children learn. Yet, in practice she does not plan an appropriate range of play opportunities for older children who attend. There are insufficient activities or resources for children to explore. This results

in children asking the childminder for something to do. n The childminder is at times self-reflective and identifies some of the weaknesses in her practice. She demonstrates an understanding of the need to improve. For example, she has developed her knowledge and understanding of safeguarding. She knows the procedures to follow in the event of allegations being raised. She is clear of the procedures to follow should she have concerns about a child's welfare. n Despite significant weaknesses in the childminder's practice, older children who attend demonstrate they are settled and confident in her care. They behave well and respond positively to the childminder's calm and patient approach. Older children follow the childminder's practice as they encourage the childminder's younger children to share and take turns when using colouring pencils. The childminder encourages children to be independent as they enjoy making their

6 November 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
