This provision does not meet requirements
n The childminder does not demonstrate a secure knowledge and understanding of all statutory requirements of the early years foundation stage and the Childcare Register. She does not evaluate her provision to identify weaknesses and ensure the requirements of her registration are met. n Despite support and advice from local authority advisers, the childminder has failed to address all the actions raised at her last inspection. This means her knowledge of how to support children in their learning has not improved and her capacity to improve the service she provides for children is weak. n The childminder does not understand the importance of completing thorough risk assessments to identify and minimise hazards. For example, electrical cables hang in loops at the side of the television within easy reach of children. Outside, a trampoline that can be used by children is in a poor state of repair. n Although the childminder has attended paediatric first-aid training, she

demonstrates poor knowledge and understanding of how to respond appropriately to potential medical emergencies. n The childminder is able to identify the potential signs and behaviours that children may be at risk of harm. However, the childminder does not have knowledge of the 'Prevent' duty guidance. She demonstrates weak knowledge of what may indicate a child is at risk of, or who has suffered, female genital mutilation. n The childminder's understanding of the learning and development requirements remains poor. Although the childminder is able to identify the seven areas of learning, she demonstrates weak knowledge of how to design an appropriate curriculum to ensure children benefit from meaningful learning. n Although the childminder has some toys and resources available for children, she demonstrates weak knowledge and understanding of how to plan stimulating activities to target what children need to learn next and to help them make

progress in all areas of learning. n The childminder demonstrates weak knowledge of how she will identify children's learning needs, monitor their progress and plan for what they need to learn next. The childminder has limited knowledge of children's developmental milestones. This compromises her ability to identify gaps in children's learning or when they may require additional support. She lacks knowledge of how she will support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. n The childminder does not recognise the importance of maintaining records for children. For example, the childminder currently provides care for older children who attend full-time school. However, although she advises that she has recorded the required information about each child in her care and keeps a daily record of the names of the children being cared for and their hours of attendance, she has not retained any records to evidence this.

This provision does not meet requirements
9 June 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
