p.1

This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder has not made the required improvement in her knowledge to meet the statutory requirements of the early years foundation stage. Many of the breaches of requirements found at this inspection have been raised before by inspectors. This means that there continues to be significant weaknesses in the quality of the provision. n Although the childminder has improved some aspects of her safeguarding knowledge, some others remain poor. For example, she is unable to identify all indicators of potential harm to a child, particularly in relation to recognising signs that a child or family may be at risk of radicalisation or holding extreme views. She also does not know the procedures to follow if such concerns were identified. n The childminder has a written statement to safeguard children. However, this does not include all the correct procedures to be followed when various child protection concerns arise, in line with local safeguarding partners. In addition, it

refers to out-of-date guidance and legislation. This is a breach of the Childcare Register requirements. n The childminder has improved her knowledge and understanding of how children learn. She knows the importance of creating a curriculum that is planned to build on children's knowledge and skills to help them gain new skills. However, the childminder demonstrates poor understanding of how to implement a rich curriculum for groups of children of mixed ages. n The childminder knows how to assess children's development and their progress. She is aware of her responsibility to complete the required progress check for children aged two years. n The childminder has weak knowledge and understanding of how to develop older children's literacy skills in an appropriate way. This could have a detrimental effect on children's literacy learning when they move to school. n The childminder does not have a good knowledge and understanding of how to

support children who speak English as an additional language. She lacks awareness of the importance of providing children with opportunities to use and celebrate their home languages, in order to develop their communication and language skills. n The childminder understands how to manage children's behaviour in an appropriate way. n The childminder values the importance of working in partnerships with parents. n The childminder has improved her risk assessment procedures. As a result, the premises are clean and safe.

This provision does not meet requirements

9 March 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
