This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder demonstrates poor knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. She does not identify signs for concern and does not know the right agencies or appropriate procedures she must follow to report those concerns. In addition, the childminder does not have a relevant and up to date written safeguarding and child protection policy that meets the requirements of the Childcare Register. n The childminder has not kept her knowledge and professional development up to date to be able provide a good quality service for children and follow appropriate procedures. For example, the childminder does not demonstrate a secure knowledge of what must be notified to Ofsted. This means children's safety is compromised. n The childminder demonstrates poor knowledge of children's learning and development. She does not have the appropriate knowledge to implement a curriculum that is ambitious, sequenced and meets the needs of all children.

This provision does not meet requirements

Furthermore, she does not show a secure understanding of how to identify, plan and support children's next steps. For example, the childminder says that to prepare children to go to school she would teach them to do mathematical additions. This means children do not receive a good and relevant quality of education to support their learning. n The childminder has poor awareness of who to contact or where to get further support for children with specific needs. For example, she is not confident about who to contact in the local authority to get support with speech delays. This means children do not get the extra support they need to make good progress in their development. n The childminder shows appropriate understanding of how to risk assess the environment to make it safe for children. She shows that she recognises risks and puts things in place to safeguard children. For example, making sure the garden shed is always locked and protecting the floor with soft padding, so

children do not hurt themselves if they fall. n The childminder explains how she would provide information for parents about their child's day and development through pictures and arranging discussions. She gathers information about children before they start to get to know them better. This helps children settle and feel secure. n The childminder shows some understanding of how to support children's behaviour and emotional well-being through appropriate behaviour management strategies. This helps children understand what is expected of them and learn right from wrong from an early age. n The childminder shows appropriate awareness of the right procedures to safely administer medication to children or deal with emergencies, such as accidents or individual health needs. This means children are kept healthy in the setting.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

9 February 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
