Previous inspection Not Met (with actions)
p.1
This provision does not meet requirements
The provider, who is also the manager of the setting, has not ensured that all staff working with children have adequate knowledge of safeguarding. This includes identifying the signs and symptoms of abuse and what to do if they are concerned about a child. The manager and staff do not have a suitable understanding of how to manage an allegation and who to report this to. This compromises children's safety. This was an action raised at the last inspection, and the provider has not ensured this has been suitably addressed.
p.2
This provision does not meet requirements
The setting offers a welcoming environment where children settle in quickly. Children are excited as they greet staff. Children are settled and share close relationships with their peers and staff. This helps them to feel secure. Children are excited to see their friends and discuss what they have learned at school.
p.2
This provision does not meet requirements
Overall, children behave well. They are kind and considerate towards each other. Staff are good role models to the children. Children share resources, take turns and respect the feelings of others. Children are aware of, and follow, the setting's rules. For example, staff signal new activities by clapping a tune that the children follow, and this reminds them that it is time to tidy up. They give each other gentle reminders of how to behave, such as remembering to walk inside.

need to do better?
n The provider has addressed some of the weaknesses identified at the last inspection. For example, they have improved the hygiene and cleanliness of the setting and ensured snacks are healthy and food preparation areas are suitable and clean. This has had some positive impact. However, as the manager and staff do not have a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures, this compromises children's well-being and does not keep children sufficiently safe. n Since the last inspection, staff have taken account of children's views and individual interests. This has led to the staff providing a range of exciting and stimulating activities that the children enjoy engaging in. Children are independent in their play and take the lead in selecting toys, games and resources they want to play with. n Children enjoy eating the healthy, light tea prepared by the staff. They are offered a range of fresh fruits, vegetables and salad, which they enjoy eating.
p.2
need to do better?
They see this as a sociable occasion where they share stories about their day. Staff are aware of children's allergies and dietary requirements and ensure these are met. Children wash hands regularly and understand why this is important, 'to keep them clean and germs away'. n All children, including those who speak English as an additional language, are

They understand that this is not always wanted and respect their friends who ask them to 'move along please'. n Staff work in partnership with parents and teachers at the schools they pick children up from. They share information to provide continuity of care. n Overall, parents speak positively about the setting and comment how friendly and caring the staff are. children support less-able and younger children to join in with their play. n The provider does not have a secure knowledge and understanding of all the changes that must be notified to Ofsted and the correct time frame for such notifications. This includes notifications linked to safeguarding concerns.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The provider does not have effective systems for safeguarding to ensure all children are kept safe. The manager and staff do not have sufficient understanding of the procedures in place to safeguard children. These include identifying a child who may be at risk of harm, awareness of official guidance, such as 'Prevent' duty, and awareness of safeguarding issues. They are unsure of how to respond if they are concerned about a member of staff and the agencies they need to inform. Children cannot leave the club unsupervised, and unexpected visitors cannot gain access. Staff closely supervise children, and risk assessments are carried out before the children arrive.
