This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder does not have sufficient knowledge of the safeguarding and welfare requirements. She does not have a valid paediatric first-aid qualification or appropriate insurance. She is not aware of the necessary steps she needs to take in order to meet the needs of children. The childminder does not demonstrate an appropriate understanding of minimising risks to children, for example, while they are sleeping. n Weaknesses in the childminder's safeguarding knowledge and practice means that she does not know how to refer concerns about children's welfare in line with local safeguarding procedures. She is unaware of the process to follow if an allegation was made against herself or a member of her family. n The childminder does not have a sufficient understanding of how to provide a well-planned curriculum. The childminder demonstrates a lack of knowledge about child development and is unclear about what she wants children to learn.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

She is unaware where to seek professional advice when a child is not making expected progress in their learning. n The childminder has identified that she lacks knowledge about current legislation and has not kept herself up to date with early years practice. She does recognise that this would have a negative impact on the quality of her teaching, and the development of children. n The childminder does recognise the importance of working with parents. She explains how she would gather information regarding the children prior to them starting. However, she acknowledges she would not be confident to challenge the parents if she had any concerns. n When discussing settling new children, the childminder is aware to obtain as much information as possible regarding their care. However, the childminder does not have a clear process for doing this to ensure that all significant information is captured.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
