p.1

This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder has not kept her knowledge of early years register requirements up to date. She has not ensured that necessary suitability checks are completed for all household members who are over 16 years. This means not all adults who may be present when children are being looked after have been deemed suitable by Ofsted. This does not fully safeguard children. n Although the childminder completed a paediatric first-aid qualification after the last inspection, this has now expired. Therefore, the childminder does not hold a valid first-aid qualification. This is a breach of an early years register and childcare register requirement. It means the childminder does not have an up- to-date knowledge of how to treat all injuries and perform first-aid procedures in line with current requirements. n The childminder has not informed Ofsted of changes to members of her household. This is a statutory requirement of the early years foundation stage.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

The childminder was unaware of the requirement for her to do so. n The childminder has completed a basic safeguarding course. This has given her some information about child abuse and helps her to recognise if children may be at risk of harm. However, the childminder's knowledge of other aspects of safeguarding, such as what to do if an allegation is made against a member of her household, is weak. The childminder is unfamiliar with the role of the local authority designated officer and is not confident in knowing what to do if a concern is raised. This means appropriate action to keep children safe might not happen quickly enough. n The childminder has not cared for early years aged children for some years. She is unfamiliar with the early years foundation stage learning and development requirements. Although she recognises how children learn through play and the experiences she provides, her knowledge of how to plan for this using an

effective curriculum is limited. n The childminder offers a welcoming environment and takes relevant action within the home to keep children safe. She is aware of the possible risks animals present to children and their health, and takes the necessary precautions. n The childminder explains how she would keep children safe by supervising them closely. She would make sure children play close to her, so that she can always see or hear them. She describes how she sets relevant boundaries, so that children know what they can and cannot do.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

Inspection activities

n This was the first routine inspection the childminder received since the COVID- 19 pandemic began. The inspector discussed the impact of the pandemic with the childminder and has taken that into account in the evaluation of the childminder. n The inspector spoke to the childminder and asked her questions about how she would keep children safe, and what activities she would provide for them. n The childminder showed the inspector around the home and confirmed what precautions she takes if caring for children to protect them from possible hazards. n The inspector looked at some records, including proof of the date of the last paediatric first-aid training the childminder completed.
