p.1
The provision is inadequate
Children's welfare is not assured. The childminder has failed to share information with Ofsted about significant events that may have affected the suitability of those in the household where she cares for children.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
Despite this, children are very happy with this caring childminder, who teaches them to become independent and to respect each other. Children's emotional security is well supported. Children learn from a curriculum focused on helping them to understand their feelings. For example, children laugh as they pull faces in the mirror, as they talk about different feelings with the childminder. There is a good selection of books and toys available to help support children's emotional well-being, which the childminder uses well.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
Children receive praise and encouragement from the childminder, helping to build their self-esteem. The childminder is a good role model to children; she is kind and calm. Children are taught to behave well by the childminder. They play happily together, respecting each other and taking turns with toys. This is also reflected in the childminder's considered approach to teaching older children to be caring towards babies.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
The childminder has high expectations for children, who are well prepared for their next step in learning. The childminder has considered what they need to know to help them to succeed at school. For example, children proudly demonstrate writing their own names.

n The childminder does not ensure the safe and efficient management of her setting. She has failed to notify Ofsted of significant events, which are requirements of her registration. This means areas of the childminder's leadership are weak as she does not fulfil her statutory duties. n Children move confidently round the childminder's home and are taught to take care of themselves. For example, the childminder has thought about how best to help children access the toilet upstairs. She uses this as an opportunity to teach children about assessing risks and managing their own safety, alongside toileting. n Children take responsibility for their own care needs as they wipe their nose and dispose of their tissues. They know to wash their hands to prevent the spread of infection and manage this themselves. This helps to support their growing independence. n The childminder has a well-designed curriculum which results in a considered

27 May 2022 uses their needs and interests as a basis for planning. For example, the childminder helps children learn about numbers by hiding numerals for them to find in a 'Pass the parcel' activity. The childminder extends learning, using the activity to teach children to take turns, gently reminding more confident children to give others a chance to answer. n The childminder has considered what skills children need to be ready to move on to school. For example, she focuses on children's independence, and personal and social skills. Children are provided with child-safe knives so they can peel and chop their own fruit at snack time. The childminder demonstrates how to use the utensils safely, helping children to hold them. n The childminder skilfully supports children's imaginations. For example, she encourages children to dress up in costumes to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, talking about what food a queen might eat. Young children eagerly

show friends the 'crown jewels' they are wearing, sharing them with each other and the childminder. n The childminder supports children's communication well. For example, children remind the childminder of the volcano they made together, 'that erupted'. The childminder comments on children's play and models correct language. Children chat happily to the childminder and each other. This means children make good progress in their speech development. n The childminder has a considered approach to sharing information with parents. She shares children's next steps and ideas for activities to support further learning at home. Parents report that their child is, 'always so excited and happy to be there'. However, the childminder does not yet help parents understand how to keep children safe online.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has failed to fully understand her safeguarding responsibilities and follow appropriate safeguarding procedures when presented with concerns of a safeguarding nature. However, the childminder has identified the safeguarding issues; she has risk assessed the events and informed parents that they have taken place. This is despite demonstrating an appropriate knowledge of the possible signs of abuse and neglect. The childminder demonstrates an understanding of other safeguarding issues, such as the risks to children of being exposed to extremist views.
