Children currently living in the home are now attending education and are making good progress. They enjoy a range of positive experiences and take part in a variety of educational and developmental activities. Some children have joined local community groups including cadets and a football team. These opportunities help children to develop their self-esteem and confidence and enables them to form positive friendships and relationships outside of the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Children are settled living at the home. This is because staff are consistent with the children’s boundaries and routines. This means that children understand the importance of having structure in their daily routines and this helps them to thrive in the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The registered manager has reviewed and amended the missing-from-home protocol. If children do go missing from the home, staff now know to search for them throughout the night. Records of these incidents are clear and detail the actions staff take to quickly locate the child and return them to the home. This consistent approach helps to protect children from harm in these circumstances.
p.2

Children’s risk assessments have been reviewed and now include all known risks. These documents also specify actions for staff to follow to manage and reduce these risks. This strategy helps to promote children’s safety and welfare.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Staff support children to move towards independence and adulthood. They encourage children to plan for their future by helping them to prepare for interviews, teaching them to cook healthy meals and supporting them to open bank accounts. For one child, this structured plan helped them to move into their new flat with little anxiety or apprehension.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
There has been one child admitted to the home since the last inspection. The registered manager carefully matched the needs of the new child with those of the children already living in the home, prior to the child moving in. As a result, children’s placements remained stable and the new child was able to quickly settle into the home. Inspection report for children’s home: SC476512 3 The registered manager does not always ensure that she is fully aware of all meetings relating to the care of the children. On one occasion, she did not attend a meeting between a social worker and a psychologist and did not know the purpose of this meeting. The lack of curiosity from the registered manager means that important information about children is not consistently shared.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The registered manager continues to develop and improve the home for the children. This includes supporting staff through practice-related supervision and providing relevant training that reflects children’s needs. As a result, staff continue to refine their skills and knowledge.
