p.1

The provision is good

The setting is organised and presented well to help children play, explore and learn. The childminder knows each child's preferences and clearly identifies how best to support their development. All children are making very good progress due to the varied and interesting curriculum offered. Children behave exceptionally well for their age and older children are eager to support and help their friends. The childminder works well to promote children's attention and communication skills. She talks and listens to them during activities, such as when measuring coloured sand into containers. Children are learning new words and mathematical concepts such as 'bigger', 'smaller' and 'half-full'. They enjoy exploring wet and dry materials when playing in the garden and have the freedom to create their own games when washing the cars and playing in the mud kitchen. They eagerly join in with stories and singing and show positive relationships with other children. This supports their

emotional well-being. Outings to local playgroups and parks broaden children's experiences of the world around them. The childminder has developed systems to share children's achievements with parents and written feedback from all parents shows this is working extremely well.

n Children play together in harmony due to the attentive care and attention provided by the childminder. They show kindness and consideration for others. Older children help younger ones during daily routines, such as snack and story time. n The childminder is a positive role model and children develop good habits, such as washing their hands before meals, and putting on their own coats and shoes when going out to play. n Meals and snacks are presented and organised well. Children enjoy sitting together for meals and enjoy nutritious food that is freshly prepared in the home. They have access to water and fresh fruit snacks. n Children enjoy being active and outside. They are encouraged to push wheeled toys, engage in messy play and kick balls around, which develops their physical skills. n The childminder has good systems in place to assess and manage risks in the home and on outings. She does not always follow her own risk assessment for

the garden and check to ensure all areas are safe. n The childminder has worked hard to meet the actions from the previous inspection through training and working with other professionals. Her setting is organised well to promote children's care and learning.

p.2

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

p.3

Safeguarding

The childminder and her assistant have attended safeguarding training since the previous inspection. The childminder has updated her safeguarding policy and discussed this with her assistant to ensure all adults working with the children have a good understanding of safeguarding practice, policies and procedures relating to current legislation. Policies and procedures for child protection are regularly reviewed by the childminder and her assistant. This means adults know what to do if they suspect a child is at risk of harm.
