This provision meets requirements
The environment is well resourced and equipped. The childminder provides a variety of fun, interesting and imaginative activities and experiences. Children are clearly very happy attending and they enjoy their time at the setting. For example, they particularly like creative experiences, such as making Christmas decorations. Children decorate model reindeers using a variety of materials and make colourful patterns on Christmas-themed mats with small beads. The childminder's interactions with the children are warm and positive. She talks to them about what they are doing, offers help as required and adds explanations to extend their knowledge. Therefore, all children continually build on and extend the skills they need for their future learning.

need to do better?
n The childminder is passionate and dedicated. She networks with professionals, conducts research, accesses online training and keeps her mandatory training up to date. This has a positive impact on the quality of her provision. However, occasionally, she lacks confidence in knowing how she promotes the early years foundation stage. Therefore, there is scope for her to make even better use of professional development opportunities to gain more confidence in her own abilities. n The childminder has a sound overview of children's personality, character and what they know and can do. She is also aware of what she can build on and further extend in their development. Children are keen to play and explore. They have a go and persist with activities. Children also develop and readily share their own ideas. n The childminder promotes being healthy. She provides children with a variety of nutritional breakfasts and main meals. Children enjoy the variety and eagerly

need to do better?
28 November 2019 n The childminder promotes independence in her setting. Children are confident to express what they want to do and make their own choices. For example, they really like helping the childminder with small tasks, such as laying the table. They also manage their self-care needs with minimal help. For example, they take care of their own belongings, putting their coats, bags and shoes away on entry, and they get their own drinks and serve their own food at mealtimes. n The setting is inclusive. The childminder is knowledgeable about supporting children with additional needs and makes adaptions to her practice to accommodate their needs. n Partnership working is strong. The childminder works closely in partnership with parents and the local school that children attend. She shares two-way information about children's care, development and well-being. Parents comment that the childminder is wonderful and the local schools comment that

the childminder puts children's needs at the heart of everything she does. This helps foster continuity between the setting, home and other settings children attend. n The childminder continually reviews her record keeping and keeps the majority of required documentation up to date. This helps to maintain the efficient running of the setting. However, there is room for the childminder to consider her own workload more carefully and streamline her records so that she only keeps exactly what is needed in line with requirements. n Self-evaluation is in place. The childminder values the views of children and their parents. She sets herself clear targets for development. For example, she has plans in place to expand her outdoor provision. She intends to make it more suitable for use in all weathers by adding a covered area and she is in process of developing this.

Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

Safeguarding
The childminder is well qualified and experienced. She is well organised. She routinely keeps her safeguarding and first-aid training up to date. The childminder's child protection knowledge is sound, including her understanding of varied issues that may affect children at home or elsewhere. She can identify indicators of child abuse, neglect or potential radicalisation. She knows how to manage and appropriately deal with potential concerns. This helps her to promote children's safety and welfare and ultimately, protect children from different types of harm.
