Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The experienced childminder carefully considers the high-quality service she provides and how to improve it even further. Her focus is always on the children and what will have a positive impact on them. She uses training, contacts with other providers, parents' views and children's thoughts to give her innovative ideas. The childminder and the children have begun to review the available toys to ensure they meet any new challenges. Children learn to use resources responsibly, as they take unwanted toys to the charity shop, for instance. The childminder has a range of excellent strategies that fully involve parents in their children's learning. She shares regular information and gives ideas and resources to continue activities at home. For example, children take models home to complete, take photographs and discuss the experience. Parents are highly complimentary about the childminder. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder makes

excellent use of all opportunities to update her knowledge and understands her responsibilities in relation to concerns about children's welfare. She supervises children conscientiously and helps them to manage their own risks.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder promotes children's eagerness to learn through their curiosity and imagination. For example, she has increased resources that can be used in a variety of ways, such as natural materials, so that children can direct their own play. Children delight in using soil to make pretend teeth dirty; they use toothpaste and persevere to brush it all off. They expand the game to make a health clinic, arranging an appointment for the childminder to check her eyes. She joins in their play with highly infectious enthusiasm, and adds additional challenge that helps to motivate their continuous engagement. The childminder skilfully supports children in group activities that help them to listen very carefully to each other, take turns and become highly confident talkers. For example, they ask each other questions and describe the different features of people in a guessing game. This leads to further discussion that helps children to

become knowledgeable and respectful of the lifestyles and cultures of others.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder gives clear boundaries that strongly support children to behave appropriately. Children share in making the rules and behave exceptionally well. They are constantly kind, polite and considerate to each other, saying 'thank you' when a child shares out sun hats, for example. They are extremely independent and help each other to set up games they enjoy, such as 'Whale Splash'. The childminder promotes respect for everyone and encourages children to care for their environment. For example, she has worked with the children and the local school to set up a recycling project. The children pack and send off crisp packets, collected at the school. The childminder provides a wealth of opportunities for children to enjoy fresh air and exercise outdoors. Children have space and time to complete a range of different inviting activities. They can enjoy physical activity, such as a game of football, or play quietly without disturbing
