Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of the signs of possible abuse and neglect and knows what action to take if she has any concerns. She implements robust policies that accurately reflect all local safeguarding procedures. Effective risk assessments are in place and there is a strong focus on helping to keep children safe. The childminder evaluates her practice and children's experiences effectively. She makes good use of feedback from parents to improve the provision. For example, the childminder is developing her outdoor area to fully meet the needs of children who prefer to learn outdoors.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children as they play and assesses their learning and development well. She uses this information to provide stimulating activities for children to enjoy and to keep them fully engaged. For example, children use tweezers to pick up different-coloured objects and sort these in various ways. This helps to encourage the development of children's mathematical skills. The childminder supports children to develop their imaginative skills and understanding of different ways of life. For instance, children play with small models of people. They act out scenarios based on their own experiences and talk about different occupations.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy their time with the childminder. They have access to a wide range of resources indoors and outdoors. They move freely around the childminder's home, choosing where to play. For example, older children are engrossed in a construction activity, stacking blocks on top of each other. Younger children dance and play tickling games with the affectionate childminder. Children learn about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. The childminder promotes good hygiene practices, such as handwashing. Children enjoy a range of healthy meals and snacks. They are well behaved and polite. They demonstrate good manners as they say 'please' and 'thank you' when asking for more fruit at snack time.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They develop the skills needed for the next stages in their learning and are prepared for the move to school. For example, children show a high level of curiosity in their play and they concentrate on activities that interest them. Children learn to use a range of resources effectively. They are clear about their own likes and dislikes. They select resources independently and lead their own play successfully. Children are confident, self-assured and eager to learn.
