This provision is good
n The childminder supports children's communication skills well. For example, she introduces new words and phrases as they play. Children make good progress in their development from their starting points. n The childminder makes regular observations of children. She has daily discussions with parents to find out what their children enjoy and can do at home. The childminder uses this information well to plan suitably challenging activities that help to support children's learning. n The childminder provides a welcoming and nurturing environment. Children develop strong attachments with the childminder and each other, and show high levels of confidence. n Children behave well. They understand age-appropriate rules and follow clear instructions. n Although children have a lot of resources to choose from, these are not always easily accessible, and it is unclear what is available. This limits children from making their

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has good, secure knowledge about how to protect children from harm, and the procedures to follow if she has any concerns regarding a child's welfare. The childminder thoroughly risk assesses her home, and teaches children how to keep themselves safe. Parents provide positive feedback about the care and education their children receive. The childminder regularly reviews the provision and reflects on her practice to identify areas for further improvement. For instance, since the previous inspection, she has developed the outdoor area. The childminder is keen to keep her skills and knowledge up to date and relevant.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides children with activities based on their interests. As a result, children enjoy their play and develop new skills. The childminder supports children's early literacy skills well. For example, older children enjoy listening to familiar stories to support their understanding of the life cycle of a butterfly. The childminder supports younger children's language and communication skills very well by using careful questioning and introducing new language. All children are confident communicators. Children demonstrate a good understanding of counting and using numbers, and the childminder supports this aspect of their learning effectively. For instance, they count the fruits eaten by the caterpillar in the story they are reading.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy lots of individual attention, which helps them to feel safe and secure and build positive relationships with the childminder. The childminder places a strong focus on their well-being. Children enjoy healthy snacks and meals, and benefit from regular fresh air and exercise in the childminder's garden and local parks. The childminder acts as a positive role model for children, and provides them with praise to boost their confidence in their own abilities. Children develop good social skills, and the childminder is effective in modelling good behaviour. She encourages children to play together and successfully distracts children before behaviour becomes challenging.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and confident in the childminder's care. They develop the skills they will need for their future learning, including pre-school and school. They are resilient and confident individuals who are motivated to explore and learn. They demonstrate good communication and language skills as they engage in conversations with visitors and the childminder.
