Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to keep the children in her care safe. She knows the signs and symptoms which might indicate a child is at risk of harm. The childminder is aware of the correct procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child's well-being. The well-qualified childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of how children learn. She keeps her professional knowledge up to date and regularly attends training. This has supported her to develop procedures to monitor children's progress closely. The childminder works effectively with parents to narrow the gaps in children's learning and progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gets to know children's individual personalities well. As a result, she is able to plan suitably challenging activities to support learning across all areas of development. She uses children's interests to keep them motivated and eager to learn. The childminder supports children's early literacy skills well. For example, she reads favourite stories with them and sings familiar songs. Children's mathematical skills are promoted, for instance, as they explore concepts such as numbers, size and shape. Children take an active role in their learning as they collect and sort different shapes. The childminder supports children's physical skills and their social and emotional development well. For example, children take part in regular outdoor play activities and develop their physical skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has a wonderful relationship with the children. She gathers detailed information about children's care routines and their likes and dislikes before they start at her setting. Children develop caring relationships with each other and they know how to share and take turns. The childminder acts as a good role model and teaches older children to play safely alongside babies. Children thrive as they feel safe and secure in the welcoming and caring environment the childminder creates for them. The childminder regularly praises children, which promotes their emotional well-being effectively.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making progress from their starting points. They are working comfortably within the stage of development appropriate for their age. Children develop good skills to prepare them for future learning and in readiness for school. For example, children learn to tidy away toys when they have finished activities and learn to understand the key times of the daily routine. Children are motivated and eager to learn. They develop many skills to be independent and show enthusiasm as they play and explore.
