This provision is good
n Children have warm relationships with the childminder. They behave well, are confident and happy in her home. n The childminder skilfully questions children while they play to build on their mathematical learning. n The childminder has reflected on her practice since the last inspection. She has improved her knowledge and is confident about what she must notify to Ofsted. She gives children access to a good range of materials and opportunities to develop and express their creative abilities. n The childminder encourages children to become independent learners. They learn to manage some things by themselves in preparation for school, such as undressing and dressing. n The childminder knows what children can achieve and plans a good range of activities to challenge and extend their learning. n The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to enhance older children's early literacy. For example, she does not always help children to pronounce words clearly or

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The childminder has evaluated her practice and made improvements to achieve good quality provision for children. She has a good knowledge of safeguarding procedures. The childminder keeps children safe and secure in her care. She understands how to protect children against extreme views of other people who may lead them into unsafe situations. The childminder knows how to report any concerns she may have for a child. She would not hesitate to notify the relevant authorities to protect children's welfare. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps statutory training up to date, including paediatric first aid.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes and assesses childrens development and monitors their progress right from the start. She works in partnership with the nursery and school that children also attend to help provide a consistent approach for their learning. Children make consistently good progress from their starting points. The childminder follows children's interests and during their play challenges their learning. For example, she helps children to count beyond 10 and to add on two more while they play with a dolls house and the play people. The childminder builds on children's interests. For example, on the way home from nursery children saw a rainbow and used coloured pens to capture the different colours in their picture.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to develop close bonds with her. Children are independent and happily explore the good range of resources and activities the childminder provides. The childminder keeps parents up to date with their children's care and development, including the use of a diary to share special moments. The childminder encourages children to do things for themselves. For example, she gives them guidance to push their feet into the front of a sock and put their heel at the back. The childminder offers good explanations that help children to understand the rules and boundaries.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop a good vocabulary. They confidently talk about their family members and where they live. Children recall family traditions, such as receiving presents for birthdays and Father Christmas coming through a magic door because there is no chimney. They are imaginative, curious and motivated to learn. Children engage enthusiastically in creative activities with glitter, glue and sequins. They learn to screw the tops on tubes and undo them again and use spatulas to spread and mix colours. Children follow good hygiene routines, for example, they wash off the sticky glue. Children are polite and behave well.
