Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder and her assistant have completed relevant training and have a thorough understanding of the signs that might indicate a child is at risk of harm. She provides her assistant with regular supervision and feedback to help him develop his skills further. The childminder works very successfully with other settings that children attend. For instance, she shares information with pre- schools and schools to help ensure there is continuity in care and learning, and support the rapid progress that children make. Effective links with other professionals help the childminder to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. Although, opportunities to pursue a range of options to enhance her professional knowledge even further are still ongoing.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder and assistant interact exceptionally well with children and use a wide range of opportunities to expertly extend activities based on children's interest. For example, they use children's interest in paint to encourage them to explore what happens when they mix colours together. Pre-school children are extremely skilled in accurately predicting the paints they need to create different colours and know that they need to add white to create lighter shades. Children's understanding of mathematics and number is significantly enhanced through everyday activities. For example, toddlers enjoy singing number rhymes and join in with enthusiasm; pre-school children confidently use simple addition, such as when they recognise that one child has two rice cakes and another child has two rice cakes, therefore there are four altogether. The childminder and her assistant use every opportunity to extend children's learning even

further. For example, during snack time the assistant explains to the children that he has cut an apple in half and then quarters and asks how many quarters there are to make a whole. Children demonstrate an extensive understanding as they accurately identify that four quarters make up a whole.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder and her assistant are extremely skilled and sensitive in helping children of all ages to form special bonds. They are exceptionally warm and caring and give children lots of gentle guidance and praise. Children behave remarkably well and are very kind and caring towards others. They develop a superb knowledge about healthy lifestyles and learn where their food comes from. For example, they grow vegetables in the garden and play fun games to help them to understand how healthy foods fuel their bodies and make them strong. All children enjoy spending time outdoors in the childminder's garden and show good skills in using apparatus and balancing along wooden beams.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children develop excellent skills that they need for the next stage of learning, including pre-school and school. They demonstrate high levels of motivation, are inquisitive and use tremendous imagination as they role play.
