The provision is good
n The childminder provides a very welcoming learning environment for children. They arrive motivated and eager to take part in the well-organised activities on offer. n Children are safe and secure in the childminder's care. She uses risk assessments well to help ensure that children are safe in the home and on outings. n The childminder's high expectations for behaviour help children to develop positive attitudes towards others. Children use good manners. n The childminder has a positive attitude towards raising outcomes for children. For example, she regularly talks to local authority professional advisers and childminding colleagues to develop her knowledge of good practice and keeps up to date with changes to the regulations.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
n The childminder does not always make the most of opportunities to build on children's existing literacy skills. n The childminder does not always gather enough information from parents about their children's abilities when they first start to inform planning from the onset.

p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of the possible indicators of abuse or neglect and knows the procedures to follow should she have concerns about a child's welfare. Since the previous inspection, the childminder has addressed the recommendations from her last inspection. For example, she now reflects on her practice and seeks the views of parents to continually improve her childminding service. The childminder leads her assistant effectively and supports them well overall in their role. For instance, she cascades knowledge gained from emails and online courses to promote good outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a broad variety of learning experiences for children that engage and motivate them. Children spend a long time absorbed in imaginative play activities. For example, they go on amazing adventures into space with astronauts where they find moon sand and moon rocks. The childminder provides children with ample opportunities to learn about the natural world. Children relish going on trips in the local community, such as to the ecological centre. They get to discover a range of mini beasts and learn about their local environment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settled in the childminder's home and have warm and nurturing relationships with her. The childminder encourages children to gain a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle. For example, they have discussions about healthy choices and use paper plates to create their favourite meals through drawings. This helps to develop children's knowledge of food from around the world. The childminder provides children with healthy nutritious meals and snacks and encourages them to follow good hygiene routines. They have regular opportunities to exercise and play outdoors. For example, children take part in the daily school run and enjoy accessing the trampoline in the garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They develop good skills that prepare them for the move on to pre-school and school. Children learn to think and respond to questions with their own ideas and thoughts. They enjoy activities that help them develop their understanding of information and communication technology. For example, children explore a battery-operated rocket and listen intently as it prepares for take off. They develop independence skills, such as dressing and undressing themselves and managing in the bathroom.
