This provision is good
The childminder is a good role model. She is very warm, respectful and kind. Children are settled and happy in her company. The childminder has a strong partnership with parents. She communicates with them regularly about their children's experiences and progress. Parents value the service the childminder provides. The childminder recognises the benefits of working with others to ensure a consistent approach to children's care and learning. The childminder is sensitive to the safety needs of children. She effectively assesses her resources and any potential hazards in her home, garden and while on outings. She identifies and minimises possible risks. The childminder provides children with a wide range of exciting and interesting learning experiences. For example, children enjoy regular outings in the local community where they can be active, meet other people and develop new skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes, in her eagerness for children to learn, the childminder interrupts children's thought processes as they play. The childminder does not always consistently encourage children's self-care and hygiene skills before eating.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector took account of the written views of parents. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and the suitability of all adults living in the household.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the signs and indicators of harm and knows where to refer any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder keeps her safeguarding knowledge and practice updated. For example, she has broadened her understanding of wider safeguarding issues, such as protecting children from extreme views and behaviours. Children receive good support to learn how to keep themselves safe. For example, they learn about road safety when walking in the community with the childminder. The childminder continuously checks on children's progress. This helps her to identify any gaps in their development and address these with additional support. The childminder meets with other childminders to share good practice and gather new ideas. She evaluates her provision and makes changes to enhance her service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's language and communication skills effectively. She provides a running commentary as they play and introduces new words into their vocabulary. The childminder gets down to children's level and joins in their play with enthusiasm. For example, children pretend to make the childminder cups of tea and bring her imaginary food to eat. The childminder skilfully supports the development of children's early mathematical skills as she sits alongside them, supporting them to practise their counting. Children's literacy skills are fostered and they borrow books from the childminder to read at home. The childminder encourages children to learn about keeping themselves healthy, generally. For example, she explains about the need to drink lots of water as the weather is hot.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children feel secure in the childminder's environment and display high levels of confidence and well-being. The childminder discusses children's likes and dislikes with parents to help promote their general welfare. She acknowledges children's efforts and achievements with plenty of praise and encouragement, helping to build their self-esteem. Children are keen to instigate their own play. For example, children develop their own stories as they move toy figures around the floor. The childminder regularly meets with other childminders to enable children to interact and mix with their peers. Children's good health and physical skills are promoted overall, as they enjoy regular outdoor activities. The childminder gently reminds children of their behaviour as they play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points and enjoy learning. They show an eagerness to join in with play activities. Children show growing self-assurance in social situations. Children develop a range of skills that helps to prepare them well for their future learning, including for nursery or school.
