She supports children well by following their lead during play and providing help and support when it is required. The childminder reviews the activities and experiences she provides for children. She ensures they take account of their interests and stage of development. This helps them to make good progress in their learning. Partnerships with local schools are good. The childminder demonstrates a proactive attitude to sharing information with teachers, in order to support and complement children's learning in school. The childminder has good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She is committed to enhancing her knowledge further by attending training and working alongside other local childminders. Children take part in everyday routines with the childminder, which helps to develop

their independence skills. The childminder works together with children to create expectations and codes of behaviour for her home. This means children understand the rules for activities and respond appropriately.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder on occasion does not always extend children's early writing skills. There are times when the childminder does not always extend children's use of mathematical language.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

extend opportunities for children to further develop and extend their early writing skills focus more on using new mathematical language with children during activities to help them apply their learning and use mathematical language confidently as they play.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all parts of the childminder's home used for childminding. The inspector observed play and learning activities and spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector viewed regulatory documentation, including evidence of suitability checks, children's details, learning journals and a sample of policies and procedures. The inspector discussed self-evaluation and how this is organised to drive improvements that benefit the children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder reviews children's progress well. She works well in partnership with parents and seeks intervention from external agencies if this is required, to address any possible gaps in children's achievements. The childminder shows a strong commitment to improving the service she provides. She gathers the views of parents and children to help her target areas for further development which support children's outcomes over time. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder risk assesses her home environment, identifying and addressing any potential hazards. Children are further protected during outings. The childminder maintains constant supervision of children, ensuring their safety at all times.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of the childminder's teaching is consistently good. She supports children's communication skills very well. Highly effective strategies are used to help children develop their understanding and build up their vocabulary. The childminder has good knowledge of where children are in their learning. She observes them as they play and provides activities that challenge them. This helps them to make good progress in their learning. The childminder provides a wide selection of resources for children to choose from. However, resources to support early writing are not always visible to children. This means they are unable to extend their physical skills and spontaneously incorporate early writing as part of their play. The childminder supports children's counting skills generally well. However, she does not always use enough mathematical language to extend children's knowledge and enable them to use this as they play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children receive a warm welcome in this friendly home environment. Good relationships are formed with the childminder. Children demonstrate confidence and are motivated to explore their surroundings. They know the childminder is nearby for reassurance and comfort, if required. Children's good health is promoted very well. Routine activities help them to develop an understanding of the importance of hygiene and living a healthy lifestyle. Children's physical and emotional needs are supported well when they first begin attending the childminder's provision. Good quality information is gathered from parents when they attend introductory visits. This is effectively managed and is used to meet children's individual needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder prepares them well with the skills and knowledge they require in readiness for school. Children's early reading skills are developing well. They enjoy sharing books with the childminder and are beginning to use them independently.
