This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to make the necessary improvements to her practice. She has public liability insurance in place and has attended training to ensure she understands her role to keep children safe, particularly in regard to the 'Prevent' duty guidance for England and Wales 2015. The childminder provides children with choices about where they want to learn and enhances their experiences with good teaching skills. Children are consistently engaged and show good levels of concentration. The childminder helps children to develop their literacy skills and a love of books from an early age. Young children make good progress and enjoy repeating their favourite parts of the story. This helps them to begin to develop the skills for starting school. Children have secure bonds with the childminder. They show they feel safe in her care and develop good levels of self-esteem and self-confidence.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder has effective partnerships with parents and other professionals. She has begun to share and gather information with other settings children attend.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently put in place opportunities to help develop young children's mathematical skills. The childminder is enhancing the ways to drive forward future improvements and evaluate her setting. However, she does not currently gather feedback from parents or children to take account of their views.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of the childminder's suitability to work with children. She discussed children's learning, assessment and planning with the childminder and her self-evaluation. The inspector obtained written feedback from parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Since the last inspection, the qualified childminder has worked hard to ensure she maintains an up-to-date knowledge of new legislation and the requirements of the early years foundation stage. She has worked in partnership with the local authority adviser and attends network meetings to share good practice for safeguarding and inclusion. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has robust procedures to follow if she has concerns about children's welfare. She completes risk assessments to identify potential hazards and teaches children about their own safety, such as coming down the stairs carefully. The childminder understands how to monitor children's progress and knows how to access further support to close gaps in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder regularly observes children during their play and uses this information to provide a range of interesting experiences which captures their interests. For example, young children particularly enjoy painting. They are helped to develop early writing skills as they hold the brush carefully and the childminder links this to a story about the life cycle of a caterpillar. Children are very excited to develop their physical skills and complete their daily stretching activity. The childminder teaches them about other languages and she helps them to develop an interest in the world. The childminder shares her assessments of children's progress with parents. They are pleased with how the childminder includes them in their child's ongoing learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model for children and promotes their emotional well-being consistently. For example, she offers effective amounts of praise and support throughout the day and helps children to feel valued as individuals. Young children learn about their own feelings and how to be kind and caring towards others. Their behaviour is very positive. The childminder provides opportunities for children to explore outdoors. They have access to a digging patch and enjoy using their imagination during role play. The childminder supports children to begin to take an active part in their own self-care and develop an awareness of healthy practices. For example, young children begin toilet training and the childminder supports them to wash their hands before eating their fruit at snack time.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. They have opportunities to develop good social skills and are confident to communicate their needs and preferences. Young children are enthusiastic to participate in a range of experiences and persevere to develop their skills. They have good levels of independence and show confidence in their own abilities.
