This provision is good
The childminder establishes effective partnerships with parents. She regularly shares information with them about children's activities, learning and well-being to support continuity in their care and development. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively. She uses assessment information well, overall and her knowledge of children's interests, to provide activities that motivate them to play, explore and learn. Children make good progress. The childminder plans opportunities for children to develop their understanding of the world. For instance, they enjoy learning about dinosaurs, their habitats and investigate pond life. Children enjoy visiting places in the local community, such as shops and places of worship. The childminder supports children's emotional security successfully. She is friendly, nurturing and children are happy and secure. They eagerly involve her in their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not establish fully successful links with other settings children attend, to share information regularly about children's learning. The childminder does not consistently build upon what children need to learn next to raise their achievements to an even higher level.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection and carried out a joint evaluation of the teaching and learning, with the childminder. The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home used by children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and children's records. The inspector took account of parents' views
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has secure knowledge of how to keep children safe. She has a clear understanding of the process to follow should she need to report any concerns about a child's well-being. The childminder extends her professional skills. She carries out research and exchanges ideas with other childminders, such as how to enhance the creative activities she provides for children. The childminder reflects effectively on the service she provides and values the contributions that parents make. She uses their views to identify where further improvements to her provision can be made.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's communication and language development skilfully, promoting their readiness for school. Children enjoy talking about their families and past and present events in their lives. They express themselves clearly, confidently and learn the meaning of new words. The childminder provides a range of materials for children to explore and investigate, such as gloop, sand and water. Children develop their understanding of how things can change over time. For example, they learn about how they have grown and changed since they were babies. They enjoy taking part in cooking activities and helping to weigh ingredients. The childminder provides resources and activities to support children's physical development well. Children learn how to use scissors safely, enjoy dancing and visits to the park.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model and children respond positively to her. She provides them with clear expectations and their behaviour is good. Children develop good social skills and learn to share, take turns and to tolerate delay. The childminder effectively supports children to become independent learners. They lead their play confidently and make decisions. Children enjoy opportunities to help with everyday tasks, such as helping to clean the floor and they develop their sense of responsibility. Children learn about communities beyond their immediate experiences and about similarities and differences. For example, they explore greetings in different languages.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children explore their creative ideas confidently and expressively. They enjoy painting, printing and select colours and materials to create a desired effect. They recreate familiar stories through role play and enthusiastically portray different characters. Children make links with their own experiences. For example, they understand that change is sometimes given when a customer pays for items in a shop. Children learn about keeping themselves safe and making healthy choices. For example, they know that vegetables are healthy and cakes are often given as treats.
