This provision is good
The childminder has recently attended training courses and received support from the local authority. This has resulted in significant improvements to the quality of provision since the previous inspection. The childminder provides children with a wide range of inspiring learning opportunities. They take regular walks in the local woods where they pick wild flowers. They then use the flowers to make sensory nature bottles, which they use in their play. Children have warm and trusting relationships with the childminder. They talk confidently with the childminder about their families, pets and past experiences. As a consequence, children are happy and settled in a welcoming environment. Children's developing independence is encouraged at every opportunity. This helps them to be prepared for the next stage in their education and learning. The childminder has developed her skills in reviewing the progress children are making

in their learning and development. Children are now making good progress from their different starting points.

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector read comments from parents and took account of their views. The inspector looked at a range of documents, including children's progress files, assessment documents, policies and procedures and training records. The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home, and spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Since the previous inspection, the childminder has shown a commitment to identify areas for improvement, and quickly acted to make the required changes. The childminder has included the views of the local authority, parents and children in setting herself targets to ensure this improved quality is maintained. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has recently completed further safeguarding training. This has equipped her with a good understanding of the signs and indicators of abuse, which helps to keep children safe from harm. The childminder regularly reviews risks in the home environment and involves children in keeping themselves safe. For example, when playing in the garden, children are reminded to keep each other safe when using the slide and see-saw.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has recently completed courses to improve her knowledge of how children learn and how to provide a high-quality learning environment. This has improved the quality of the learning opportunities for children, and they thoroughly enjoy the activities provided. Children show delight as they fill and empty different sized pots with beans, grains and pasta shapes. This promotes their emerging physical and creative skills. The activity is enhanced even further as the childminder encourages older children to use mathematical language to compare sizes, shapes and textures. However, younger children are not always supported to extend their vocabulary.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has good relationships with parents. Daily communication between the parents and the childminder places a strong focus on meeting children's emotional and care needs. Parents praise the childminder for the influence she is having on their children's happiness and learning. For example, one child has developed an interest in caring for plants at home. This interest was inspired by the childminder who taught children the importance of caring for flowers and plants. Children are given ample opportunities for fresh air and physical play. Children talk animatedly as they recall their recent trips to local farms, and the long walks they have taken with the childminder's dog. However, children have fewer opportunities to learn more about different faiths, cultures and religions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. They are working comfortably within the range that is typical for their age. Older children develop skills in early literacy that prepare them well for later learning. For example, they are encouraged to recognise and write their names. Children's independence skills are well-promoted. They are encouraged to wash their own hands, and select their own hand towels. In addition, the childminder places a strong focus on manners and being kind. As a result, children's behaviour is good and older children have developed a caring approach towards the younger children. The childminder has good links with the local authority and knows how to access additional support if needed to further improve outcomes for all children.
