This provision is good
The childminder has made good progress since her last inspection. She has successfully addressed all actions and recommendations. The quality of her provision is now good. The childminder is well organised and follows effective policies and procedures to promote children's safety and well-being. The childminder works closely with parents to find out about children's learning and care needs when they first start. Parents receive regular information about their child's progress and are well supported to contribute to their learning at home. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. Children very quickly settle and swiftly become motivated learners. Children are self-confident and show their strong attachments with the childminder. The childminder arranges the environment so that children can make choices in their play. Overall, she provides a stimulating range of resources to help children to explore,

create and use their imaginations. The childminder is committed to working in partnership with other settings and professionals to help meet children's learning and support needs.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide enough opportunities for babies to investigate a wide range of different textures and materials during their play. The childminder does not fully plan activities with precision to support children's next steps in learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the procedure to follow should she have a safeguarding concern about a child. She uses her policies and procedures well to further support safe practice. For example, fire drills are conducted regularly. Risk assessments are also completed on a regular basis, with appropriate steps taken to minimise risks and help keep children safe. The childminder regularly reflects on and evaluates her practice. She seeks the views of parents and children to try and identify ways to improve her provision further. Parents speak highly of the childminder and describe her approach as warm and nurturing.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The qualified childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of how children learn. She generally uses observations and assessments of children's learning well, to monitor their progress in learning and development. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills effectively. For example, she uses repetitive songs and introduces children to new vocabulary as they play. She understands children's emerging development and provides further challenge to build on their learning. For example, as babies learn to walk, she encourages them to pull themselves up to a standing position independently. This helps babies to develop their balance and coordination, and supports their physical development. Children develop a keen interest in books, as they snuggle in with the childminder to listen to their favourite stories.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes children's independence well during daily routines and activities. For example, she sensitively supports babies to try drinking from their water cups independently. She offers meaningful praise and encouragement to boost children's confidence and self-esteem. Younger children enjoy the warm affection of the childminder. They climb onto her knee for cuddles when they are tired and calmly fall asleep in her arms. This strong bond helps children to feel safe and secure. The childminder provides good levels of supervision and prioritises children's safety. She helps them to learn how to stay healthy and develop their physical skills. For example, they have daily opportunities for exercise and learn about food that is good for their health and well-being.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Babies and children demonstrate that they are inquisitive and independent learners. All children are making good progress in their learning and are working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age. Children's behaviour is good. They listen to the childminder's clear instructions and are learning about rules and boundaries. They enjoy plenty of visits to local playgroups. This introduces children to a wider circle of friends and helps to extend their social skills. Children are well prepared for the next stage of learning, including the move on to nursery and school.
