For example, the childminder now makes good use of assessments of children's learning to plan challenging and suitable activities. The quality of teaching is consistently good. The childminder knows children well and values their interests. She provides children with activities that reflect the next steps in their learning. Children are very happy and settled. They play well together and form close attachments with the kind and caring childminder. The childminder keeps parents up to date with children's learning and care. For example, she uses an electronic learning journey to share information daily, which helps parents to feel informed of their child's day. She creates effective two-way communication, ensuring continuity of care and learning between home and the

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector observed an activity jointly and evaluated this with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises, and the childminder's qualifications. The inspector looked at children's assessment records and a range of other documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a comprehensive knowledge of child protection issues and she knows how to report concerns. She is up to date with changes in legislation. All adults within the home have undertaken suitability checks. The childminder has a good knowledge of changes in her circumstances that must be notified to Ofsted. She monitors children's progress in their learning effectively to ensure all children make good progress. The childminder is reflective and evaluates the quality of her service. She identifies strengths and areas of development to improve the outcomes for the children. In addition, she takes account of the views of parents and children to help her shape her service. Close links with other childminders allows good practice to be shared. The childminder also supports other childminders to develop their knowledge as she runs a messy play session in the local community.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The qualified childminder is skilled at following children's lead in their play and learning. She plans activities around their interests. For example, during painting activities, children choose what they want to paint and how they want to create their artwork. This supports children to be motivated learners. The childminder supports children's understanding and thinking skills by asking a range of effective questions. Children delight as the childminder joins them in their play. She extends the storyline in their play during role-play activities. This supports children's early storytelling skills. The childminder provides children with a broad and varied curriculum, which includes visits to local castles and interactive art exhibitions.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good. The childminder uses a variety of strategies to help children to understand and cooperate with the rules and boundaries in the setting. For instance, children enjoy earning beads for their 'monster points' when they have followed rules and routines of the setting. The childminder is a good role model and young children are learning to respect each other and the resources provided. Very effective partnerships with parents ensure a consistent approach to behaviour is used at home and within the setting. Children are supported to have a good awareness of leading a healthy lifestyle. The childminder provides children with healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals. Children have daily walks in the community, play in local parks and visit the local woods.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are motivated and keen to learn. They enjoy listening and talking about their favourite stories. Children use numbers and technology in their play, such as using play tills when role-play shopping. Older children manage their own personal care and younger children learn to feed themselves. Children learn to socialise with other children and adults through a variety of outings in the local community. They are learning to take turns and share.
