This provision is good
The childminder is committed to delivering a high-quality service. She regularly reflects on her practice and has clear action plans in place. This helps to support the continuous improvement to the provision since the last inspection. The childminder and assistant are positive role models. They provide children with plenty of praise and encouragement. This helps children to develop good social skills and behave extremely well. Children settle quickly and are happy and confident in the childminder's home. The childminder plans stimulating activities that motivate children to learn. Children enjoy regular outings to play groups and parks. These contribute to children's growing awareness of the wider community. The childminder has established strong partnerships with parents, overall. She provides them with information about how they can support their child's learning at home. This helps children to make good progress.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always obtain precise information from parents about what children know and can do when they start with her. On occasions, children do not concentrate as well as possible due to distractions from background noise.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed teaching, and assessed the impact of this on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and her assistant and to children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector checked documentation, including evidence of the suitability of adults living at, and working on, the premises. The inspector took into account the views of parents, provided in written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder and her assistant have a secure knowledge of possible signs and symptoms of abuse. They understand the procedures to follow when reporting any concerns. The childminder carries out daily checks of the environment which helps to minimise potential risks. Both the childminder and her assistant have completed mandatory training. In addition, the childminder continues to develop her teaching skills and those of her assistant by applying the knowledge gained from a range of opportunities for professional development. For example, she recently shared new ideas, from a course focused on extending children's vocabulary, with her assistant. The childminder ensures that she supervises her assistant effectively. She takes into account the views of parents and children when making any changes to her provision, such as finding new resources.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses accurate assessments to identify and address any gaps in children's learning. She plans and demonstrates activities that children enjoy. For example, younger children are helped to develop small-muscle skills as they copy her and knead home-made play dough. The childminder introduces new words, such as, 'squeeze', 'soft' and 'hard'. She also uses familiar rhymes to help support the development of children's communication and language skills. Children clap their hands with delight and join in with the words and actions to their favourite songs. They enjoy exercise indoors and dance happily to music. The childminder extends children's understanding of the world well. For example, they investigate how the freshly fallen snow in the garden feels. Parents say they are happy with their children's progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Young children demonstrate high levels of self-confidence and take an active part in their own self-care. For example, they wash their hands thoroughly, with help, before they eat their nutritious snacks and use tissues to wipe their faces clean afterwards. Children are keen to be independent and enjoy helping with daily routines, such as tidying away toys to keep the play area safe. The childminder promotes children's good health well. For example, she provides opportunities for frequent play outdoors, throughout the year in the fresh air. The childminder encourages parents to supply healthy food choices for children. The childminder gathers information about children's care needs and routines when they start which helps them to settle quickly. ?
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and concentrate well, relative to their ages. They develop skills, including early mathematical and literacy skills, for their future learning and eventual move on to nursery and school. Young children develop good exploratory skills and are enthusiastic, curious and motivated learners. They show great pride in their achievements and are willing to try new activities that continue to develop their learning. Children mix with others well and gain effective social skills.
