This provision is good
Children have formed strong relationships with the childminder and enjoy her company. She has a good knowledge and understanding of children's individual needs and effectively supports their emotional and physical well-being. As a result, children are happy, confident and settled. The childminder is a good role model. She is kind and patient, and gives children clear and consistent guidance about acceptable behaviour. Children learn to share, take turns and have good manners. The childminder has established positive partnerships with parents. She provides them with information about their child's day, progress and welfare through verbal communication and access to written reports. This helps to support consistency in children's care needs and their learning at home. Children develop good communication and language skills. The childminder engages them in meaningful conversation and models the clear and correct use of words during
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always plan activities with a high enough degree of precision and focus so that children can achieve at the highest possible level. The childminder does not consistently share information about children's development with other settings they attend to ensure consistency in their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including evidence of suitability for the childminder and household members and records of children's development and progress. The inspector viewed the areas of the premises and the resources used for the childminding provision. The inspector observed the interactions between the children and childminder and assessed the impact these have on children's learning and development. The inspector discussed with the childminder how she evaluates her practice and the impact she feels this has on the children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has taken positive steps to address the weaknesses identified at the last inspection. She has implemented the required procedures to ensure relevant suitability checks are completed on household members. In addition, she understands her responsibilities to follow these procedures should there be any more changes in the future. The childminder has made good use of her experiences of working in another childcare setting to reflect and build on her own practice. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has recently completed child protection training and knows how to respond should she have concerns about the welfare of a child. She supervises children well and reviews her safety procedures to help keep them safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's play and learning well overall. She provides a range of activities and resources based on a good knowledge and understanding of their individual needs and interests. The childminder sits alongside children as they explore paint. Children use their hands, brushes and tools to make marks and patterns. The childminder helps children to extend their play and learning and sustain their interest. For example, she introduces colour mixing. Children proudly share their knowledge as they describe how they mix 'yellow and blue' to make 'green'. Children's mathematical development is promoted through activities and daily routines. They count the numbers of spots on the dice and name different shapes as they play board games with the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming family environment. Children demonstrate that they feel safe and have a sense of belonging in the childminder's home. They learn how to use tools appropriately and behave in a way that ensures their safety. For example, children learn to use scissors correctly and to sit, rather than to climb on chairs. The childminder promotes healthy eating and works with parents to ensure children benefit from balanced meals and snacks. Children follow good hygiene routines. They wash their hands before eating and request tissues to wipe their noses. Children have regular opportunities to be physically active. They play in the childminder's garden, visit local parks and regularly walk to and from nursery.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their development from their starting points. They enjoy their learning. Children enthusiastically join in with activities and are confident to initiate their own ideas. They are independent and learn to attend to their own needs. They enjoy assisting with simple tasks and daily routines, such as helping to tidy away and putting on their own shoes and coats. Children are developing the skills they need for their future learning.
