p.1
This provision requires improvement. It is not yet good because:
There are no plans in place to ensure the present level of care will be maintained and further improved. There are no plans for continuing staff supervisions and professional training. The building is showing signs of deterioration and some resources and displays are worn and faded. Snacks are not consistently healthy and children are not learning how to make better choices.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Relationships within the setting are excellent. Children are courteous, friendly and respond well to staff and visitors. Children are very well behaved and clearly enjoy attending the club. Children make good use of the well maintained school playing fields and playground with wide open areas and good quality equipment allowing them to build on their physical and social skills.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children’s activities indoors and outdoors The inspector spoke to members of staff and children during the inspection. The inspector held a meeting with the manager of the provision. The inspector carried out joint observations with the manager. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation, evidence of the suitability of staff working in the provision and a range of other documentation, including a sample of policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management requires improvement
The actions from the previous inspection have been met, thereby eliminating the safeguarding risks that were identified. Safeguarding is now effective. Positive role modelling promotes good relationships throughout the setting. Parents speak very highly of the staff and the care their children receive. The manager has a good knowledge of the requirements and the need for improvement. However, the current level of the provision will not be maintained or improved upon as the club is due to close in the near future. Whilst no risks to children were identified, any significant investment in the club has ceased. As a result there are early signs of deterioration and the club is becoming less welcoming. Although, some recent staff training has focussed on how to promote tolerance, respect and equality there are no plans for continuing staff supervision and training. It is unlikely the club will continue to meet the needs of the children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
Staff put a strong emphasis on children experiencing fresh air and the outdoors, following the school day. For example, the children took delight in a throwing game on the field where they were eliminated one by one, graciously accepting when they were out. Meanwhile, other children practised different skills, balancing in the tyre area and climbing on the wooden apparatus. Indoors, children independently chose from a range of resources that are organised into different areas. However, some resources and displays are becoming worn and grubby as they are no longer being replaced. This reduces the quality of the experiences for the children.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
Relationships within the setting are excellent. There is a sense of mutual respect throughout the club. A stable and conscientious staff provide consistency and families have built up strong bonds with the club. Children feel safe and secure and are very well behaved. They are courteous, friendly and respond positively to the staff. Older children have a separate common room making them feel valued and allowing them to further develop their independence. A new system at snack time encourages children to be independent and to make decisions and choices. They responsibly serve their own snacks and clear away after themselves. However, the snacks are not consistently healthy and children are not encouraged to think about the food content to help them make healthier choices.
