This provision is good
The childminder knows children well and works closely with parents to promote children's personal, social and emotional development. Children form strong attachments with the childminder, take comfort in her presence and settle in quickly. Children benefit from the childminder's particular focus on supporting their physical skills. For example, she offers babies plenty of encouragement as they learn to walk and routinely plans activities to develop children's coordination and control, such as painting with brushes. All children make good progress across all areas of learning. The childminder evaluates her provision and any changes she makes well, to maintain good outcomes for children. For instance, since the last inspection, she has reviewed the storage of toys and reflected that this has given children more choice from a wider range of resources. The childminder uses a good range of strategies to extend children's mathematical

skills, to familiarise them with numbers and counting from an early age.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The youngest children do not have regular opportunities to explore the environment using their senses, to work out how things work and investigate what they can do. The childminder does not consistently establish good partnerships with all other settings that children attend, to enable them to plan and provide complementary care and learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the relationship and interaction between the childminder and children, and children's participation during adult-led activities. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written feedback. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including children's learning records, the childminder's training certificates and her self-evaluation notes.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding matters and the procedure to follow in the event of a concern about a child's welfare. She carries out detailed checks of her home and assesses activities and tasks, to help her promote children's safety well. For example, she supervises and supports babies effectively as they learn to climb stairs. The childminder continues to update her professional skills and knowledge effectively, which has a positive impact on the experiences she provides for children. For instance, she has researched new activity ideas, particularly art and crafts, to provide more opportunities for children to be creative and imaginative.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder routinely observes children and monitors their progress accurately. She uses this information well to plan activities that take account of their interests and needs. For example, she encouraged a young child to explore the different marks they could make with paint. The child particularly enjoyed making and looking at their colourful handprints, and focused on this activity for a sustained time. The childminder supports children's communication and language development effectively. For example, she uses simple words and interesting tones, and sings well-known songs to successfully capture the attention of babies and encourage them to speak. Parents receive regular information about their children's progress and experiences with the childminder, which helps them extend children's learning further at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder builds children's confidence and self-esteem effectively. For example, her enthusiastic praise and celebration of their efforts help them develop a positive attitude to learning. The childminder motivates children well from a young age to become independent in their care. Children behave well and follow the childminder's instructions. They receive plenty of opportunities to exercise in the fresh air, such as when playing in the garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are content and participate in adult-led activities with enthusiasm and interest. They are curious learners and effective communicators, and confidently make decisions in their play. Children develop good early literacy and mathematics skills. For example, they listen well when they choose books for the childminder to read to them, and practise counting to learn about numbers. Children learn a good range of skills that help to prepare them well for the next stage in their learning, including starting school.
