This provision is good
The childminder effectively evaluates her practice to identify areas where she can improve to help children achieve better outcomes. For example, with the support of her early years improvement officer, she has made several changes and met all actions and recommendations raised at her previous inspection. The childminder makes good use of risk assessments to effectively identify potential hazards, and then promptly addresses these to help keep children safe. The childminder forms secure attachments with children and values their unique ideas. This helps children to make good progress and develop secure foundations for their next stage of learning, including starting school. The childminder regularly shares information about the progress children make with parents and provides ideas to support learning further at home to help provide continuity.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children are not always able to choose what want they to play with and extend their interest further. The childminder does not provide a wide range of opportunities to help children's early reading and writing skills.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

review the organisation of the environment to encourage children to be more independent in their play and learning improve opportunities for children to develop their early literacy skills.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and interactions between the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector checked all areas in the premises used for childminding. The inspector viewed documentation, including children's records and the childminder's paediatric first-aid qualification.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has developed her knowledge of safeguarding and welfare requirements since her last inspection. For example, she can now easily identify children who may be at risk of extreme views and behaviours, and knows where to refer her concerns. In addition, she maintains a valid paediatric first-aid certificate, keeps accurate records of children's attendance and has a complaint procedure in place. The childminder ensures that her teaching is consistently strong and meets the individual needs of children. For example, she now completes regular observations and assesses the progress that children make to help her identify any gaps in their learning. The childminder liaises with other childminders to exchange information to help keep her skills and knowledge up to date.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers information about children's interests and assesses their skills and abilities when they start. She completes ongoing assessments to plan what they need to learn next. The childminder encourages children's communication and language skills very well. For example, during a creative activity, the childminder effectively engaged children in conversations and asked them questions related to what they were doing. This helped the children to remain focused and engaged for an extended period. Moreover, she used the opportunity to teach children about patterns of colours and numbers.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a safe learning environment and helps children to understand risks and how to manage them. For example, she encourages children to tidy away resources after play, discusses boundaries and offers explanations as to why rules exist and how these keep them safe. This helps children to understand what is expected of them. The childminder provides healthy meals and takes children out daily for walks to help support their physical well-being.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and develop the necessary skills they need to start school. They are confident and behave well. Children acquire independence skills, such as putting on their clothes and managing zips. They talk confidently and express their imagination well. For example, they mix colours to decorate their superhero artwork. They are prepared well for their next stage of learning.
