This provision is good
The childminder promotes children's personal and social skills. For example, she encourages children to share, take turns and know that winning is not always possible. This helps children to manage their behaviour. The childminder promotes children's safety. For example, she checks her home prior to children arriving for any hazards and removes these. The childminder extends her professional development by attending training courses. This has helped her to develop an understanding of supporting children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. Children demonstrate that they are happy, safe and emotionally secure. The childminder finds out information from parents about what children already know and can do. She uses this information to plan for children's starting points in learning. The childminder works well alongside her assistants and co-childminder to promote children's care and learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not routinely seek the views of parents, to help review the quality of her practice and identify areas to improve. The childminder does not fully exploit opportunities for children to learn as much as possible during planned activities, in order to challenge them at the highest level.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and her assistant. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons working on the premises. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through the written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder talks to parents daily about their child's learning and development. This helps them to know their child's levels of learning and how they can support their good progress at home. The childminder supports her assistants' practice through appraisal meetings and ongoing discussions to review their practice. This helps the childminder and her assistants to provide a consistent approach to children's learning and development. The childminder shares information with other early years settings and schools that children attend. This helps all people involved with children have a united approach to supporting their progress. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have a good understanding of the signs and symptoms that may suggest children could be at risk of harm.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and what they are interested in. She has a wide range of resources and uses different areas of her home that children access to support their learning. This helps to keep children motivated to learn. The childminder observes and monitors children's learning and uses this information to plan for their good progress. She says children's names to get their attention before speaking to them. This helps children to focus and develop good listening skills. Children develop the skills they need for when they start school. The childminder sensitively encourages children to develop their experiences of feeling different textures to help develop their senses. For example, she provides children with scoops and tweezers to explore sand, rice, spaghetti and stones.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident to explore the childminder's home. They enjoy playing outside in her garden. The childminder encourages children to play independently. For example, they lay out wooden planks on the ground and walk along them. This helps to develop their balance and coordination. The childminder provides children with a good range of healthy snacks and meals. She obtains information from parents about children's medical and dietary needs and promotes children's good health. The childminder gives children lots of praise and encouragement. This helps to raise their self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning and are well prepared for school. Children use jugs to pour water into funnels and enjoy watching it fall through. This helps children to learn about cause and effect. Children use sprays to squirt water onto the grass. They develop muscles in their hands which helps to prepare them for early writing skills.
