This provision is good
The childminder effectively supports her assistants through supervision, to identify their training requirements, drive improvement and share her knowledge of the curriculum. This enables them to work consistently together to meet children's needs. The childminder makes good use of opportunities for all children to develop their listening and attention skills. She considers young children well when planning for their needs and next steps. They readily participate in activities, which support all areas of learning effectively, particularly their physical development. The children happily play and learn, and demonstrate positive approaches to their learning. Successful partnerships with parents provide continual opportunities to share knowledge of their child's interests. Children are motivated to learn. The childminder aspires to ensure all children are included and valued. Children make good progress and respond positively to changes in routines, which help to prepare

them well for their next stage in learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Resources do not always sustain the interest of the older children. The childminder does not always extend opportunities to develop children's thinking and problem-solving skills.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

ensure that resources more effectively support the needs of children of different ages and stages, especially the older ones strengthen ways to develop children's problem-solving skills and challenge their thinking further.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector held discussions with parents and took account of their views. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's observation, assessment and planning; records of staff supervision; and a range of policies and procedures. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and an assistant and spoke to the children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and impact on the children's learning.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder provides good opportunities for children of all ages and stages to enjoy playing as a group and develop their social skills. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of what to do if she is concerned for the welfare of a child. The childminder reviews children's progress regularly and shares this information with parents. Children who require additional support receive good encouragement to achieve and meet their targets. The childminder has recently attended training, which has helped her evaluate her role as a lead practitioner and how to support her staff effectively. The childminder seeks the views of the children and parents in the choices she makes for her setting, such as acquiring den-building equipment and visiting specific places of interest.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides activities which the children enjoy. She provides a good balance of adult-led and child-initiated experiences. Children particularly benefit from a wide range of opportunities to develop their literacy and communication skills. They are eager to find out what story, song or craft activity is next. The childminder and her assistants skilfully incorporate opportunities to extend children's mathematical learning, such as counting and reciting numbers forwards and backwards, as a prompt to be ready to listen and engage. Younger children confidently explore the resources independently. For example, they select small wooden bricks and build a tower successfully. The childminder supports and praises the children's efforts well to write their names.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The children are well cared for, happy and proud of their achievements, for example, when writing their name or sharing a 'pancake' they have made from coloured rice. The childminder takes time to get to know the families prior to children starting and uses this information effectively to help children settle. For example, she included tools to reflect a father's occupation that children confidently explored. Children are comfortable to express themselves and confidently persist when developing their language skills. Children explore acceptance and difference well through discussions about their own likes and dislikes.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy, settled and make good progress. Children in receipt of additional funding benefit from planned experiences, which develop their self-esteem well. Children know they are valued and that their interests will be included in their experiences. The younger children demonstrate good focus and attention which foster learning and enhance their achievements, for example, successfully threading shapes onto a string.
