This provision is good
The childminder helps children to learn through activities and experiences that they enjoy and that hold their interest. The childminder ensures children have warm, close relationships with her and her assistants. This means that they are happy and well settled in her care. The childminder effectively identifies and minimises hazards in all areas of her home and on outings to keep children safe in her care. Children benefit from the good relationships that the childminder has with parents. She shares information regularly to keep parents aware of how she meets their children's changing needs. The childminder continues to improve her knowledge through training and self- evaluation. She has developed her skills to support children who speak English as an additional language, and promotes their learning more effectively.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The younger children have fewer opportunities to gain an understanding of the world around them, for example, through playing with and exploring natural resources. The childminder misses opportunities to fully develop older children's independence and sense of responsibility as they do not always help with daily tasks or prepare their own things, such as at snack time.

who attend. This is good
Children benefit from daily activities and experiences that ensure they make good progress in their learning. The childminder and her assistants successfully help children to develop their language skills. They speak to the children during all of the activities, helping them talk about what they are doing as they play. At the inspection, the assistants introduced a singing session where each child chose their favourite song. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity as they enthusiastically joined in singing and following the actions. Children learnt how to count at the start of each song with guidance from the childminder and assistants. The childminder teaches older children how to sound out letters when they write as they practise writing their names on their artwork. The childminder's careful support ensures children gain the skills they need for moving on to pre-school or school.
p.3
good
The children move confidently around the different play spaces indoors and in the garden. The childminder organises these areas well so that children can easily reach the toys and resources they choose to play with. The childminder works closely with parents so that children have well-balanced meals. She provides healthy snacks and helps children to understand good hygiene routines. The childminder provides lots of opportunities for outdoor activities, encouraging children to play and learn in the fresh air. This means children are able to develop good physical skills and learn about managing their own safety. The childminder and assistants help children to behave well and develop friendships with others. They skilfully teach children how to be polite and kind to each other, and therefore feel emotionally secure. The childminder helps children to gain the self-assurance they need to move on to the next stage in their learning.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder works closely with her assistants and reviews their work continually. She shares ideas about children's interests and her plans for their ongoing learning so that her assistants are well informed. The childminder notices what the children enjoy and how they are learning from the activities. She makes regular assessments to check children are making good progress and that any gaps in their learning are quickly addressed. The childminder ensures that her assistants are well supervised and provides opportunities for training and professional development. The childminder and her assistants have undertaken safeguarding training to ensure that they all understand their responsibility to protect children. They know what to do if they have any concerns about children's welfare. The childminder understands and carefully implements the statutory requirements well.
