This provision is good
The childminder tracks children's achievements closely to plan for what they need to learn next. This helps her identify any weaker areas in children's learning. The childminder knows how to seek help from other relevant professionals, if necessary, to ensure that all children make good progress. The childminder works in effective partnerships with other settings children attend and shares information to plan for their next steps in learning. The childminder pays good attention to improving her service. For example, she has increased opportunities for children to develop good literacy awareness since the previous inspection, which has helped her maintain her good standards. Children have warm and close relationships with the childminder. She helps them to settle well into her setting, and children feel safe and secure. The childminder is a good role model for children. Children are polite, considerate and

behave well. They understand the importance of helping others and taking turns in their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently provide opportunities for children to understand how the routines they follow help to keep them healthy. The childminder does not gather information from parents about what children can already do when they first start, to help her to plan activities and experiences from the outset.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children engaged in activities and the childminder's interaction with them. The inspector looked at a sample of documents, including children's monitoring records, risk assessments, the childminder's self-evaluation, and policies and procedures. The inspector and the childminder jointly considered the impact of teaching on children's learning. The inspector took into account parents' written feedback and the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps her knowledge of this area up to date. For example, she has recently undertaken a range of courses relating to child protection. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the local safeguarding procedures and undertakes thorough risk assessments to ensure children can play safely in her care. She continues to attend training to extend and develop her professional knowledge. For example, the childminder has made good use of new learning to help children develop pre-writing skills. The childminder involves parents and children to identify areas she can improve her services further. For example, children complete drawings of what they enjoy doing and complete questionnaires with smiley faces.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans stimulating activities that link well to children's interests and support their individual next steps in learning. For example, children enjoyed creating colourful rainbow paintings and explored the wide variety of colours they could make when they mixed colours together. The childminder challenges children effectively to develop their listening and concentration skills. For example, children listened carefully to identify descriptions of objects during a lotto game. The childminder enthusiastically engages in children's play. She supports younger children's communication and language well. For example, she responds well to younger children's sounds and babbling, and gives them time to respond as she talks to them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a warm and welcoming environment in which children learn and develop. Children have high levels of confidence and openly express their ideas and opinions. They are proud of their achievements and the childminder uses consistent praise to help support children's self-esteem. The childminder provides children with regular opportunities to develop their social skills and gain confidence with other groups of children. Children have regular opportunities to develop their physical skills. For instance, they visit local parks and nature trails. This helps extend their knowledge and understanding of the diverse lives, cultures and backgrounds of people in the community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good skills to prepare them for future learning and in readiness for school. They share and take turns as they take part in games and activities, and learn to respect the needs of others. Children develop good confidence in their communication skills, and they listen attentively. They engage in activities of their choosing for very good lengths of time. Children's early literacy skills develop well. For example, children independently write their names on their completed art work.
