This provision is good
The childminder has addressed the actions and recommendations set at her last inspection and she has effectively raised the overall quality of her provision. The childminder gathers effective information from parents when children first start, to help establish starting points and monitor their progress. She uses observations and her knowledge of children's interests to plan a range of activities. Children make good progress in their learning and development. Children are happy, settled and behave well. They form close relationships with the childminder. She is a positive role model and is nurturing, gentle and sensitive to children's needs. She helps them to play well with others, to be kind and polite. The childminder effectively evaluates and reviews the service she provides. She involves children and parents in the process well, so the quality of the provision continually improves. Children enjoy a welcoming and stimulating environment where they help themselves

to easily accessible activities and resources.

It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder is not successful in helping children understand the benefits of making suitable food choices, to raise their awareness of healthy eating. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to help children learn more about numbers, including how to count in correct sequence.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children engaged in activities in the childminder's home. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at some documentation, including children's information, policies and procedures, and evidence of the suitability checks for all household members. The inspector jointly evaluated the children's learning with the childminder. The inspector read written feedback from parents and took account of their views through discussions.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe. She is clear on the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder carries out daily checks in the environment to identify any potential hazards. Her regular assessments of the progress children make help her to identify any gaps in their learning. The childminder understands and implements the requirements of the early years foundation stage well. She is keen to continue her professional development to help improve her teaching practice. In addition, she meets up with other childminders, exchanges ideas and discusses childcare issues, to enhance the quality of her provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are motivated to learn and thoroughly enjoy the activities available to them. The childminder joins in with their play and uses effective strategies to support children's speaking skills. For example, she repeats sentences and words back to them. She talks with children and extends their vocabulary. Children have many opportunities to use different tools to make marks and develop their early writing skills. For example, children draw flies with crayons and felt tips, while successfully naming the insect's different body parts. The childminder works closely with parents and involves them in her assessments of children's learning. This helps to provide children with suitable challenges, which parents continue at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children benefit from the childminder's consistent praise and encouragement. This helps to enhance their self-esteem and confidence. Children become independent and develop good hygiene practices through their daily routines. For example, they learn how to fasten their own coats and shoes, and know when to wash their hands. The childminder supports children well to develop their physical skills. For instance, she takes children on walks, including to the local park, where they enjoy exploring a range of large play equipment. Children are supported to value differences and similarities in people. For instance, they play with toys and resources that represent positive images and they explore different festivals and celebrations during the year.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good levels of progress in learning from their individual starting points. They are keen, excited and eager learners who display high levels of energy and enthusiasm for exploring. Children make choices about what they play with and enjoy helping others, such as to tidy away toys. They develop essential skills for their future learning and the eventual move on to school.
