Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, observation and assessment files and a selection of policies. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability checks of household members and the qualifications of the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written statements.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to seek advice and the correct procedures to follow if she has concerns regarding children's welfare. She carries out regular risk assessments of her home and outings to help keep children safe. The childminder uses effective systems to observe and assess children's development. She knows the children well and monitors their progress effectively. The childminder shares her findings with parents to help involve them in their children's learning at home. She keeps her knowledge and skills up to date. For example, she completes her own research and attends regular training. The childminder evaluates her own practice effectively to see where she can improve.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows how children learn. She plans around the children's interests and uses the information gathered from assessments to target areas of learning that children need to develop next. Children develop an interest in literacy and share books with the childminder. The childminder introduces mathematics well into children's play. For example, she discusses different shapes and colours, and she sings number songs with the children to extend their learning. The childminder interacts well with the children during activities. For example, she joins in with activities, talking about what she is doing, speaking clearly and using actions to expand children's vocabulary.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has a sensitive and caring approach. Children benefit from plenty of attention, praise and encouragement. This helps to support children's emotional well- being. They demonstrate high levels of confidence and self-esteem. Children behave well. They listen to the childminder, who offers gentle reminders about sharing and taking turns during play. The childminder helps children develop respect and understanding of others. For example, she teaches children about differences and recognises various festivals and beliefs throughout the year. Children's understanding of healthy lifestyles is supported well. Children have opportunities to be active. For example, they enjoy regular visits to local parks to build on their physical skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They have good opportunities to make marks and practise writing skills. Children select and use toys and resources independently. They enjoy solving problems and persevere. For example, they worked together to complete a jigsaw puzzle. They are able to listen to understand instructions and give their response. Children are gaining the skills to help prepare them well for their next stage of learning and the eventual move on to school.
